TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has made the “Comhairle nan
Eilean Siar (A857 Newmarket) (30 mph Speed Limit
Extension) Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order 2025
under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will
apply between Monday 24th February 2025 and Monday
24th August 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from
driving or causing or permitting to be driven, any vehicle at a
speed exceeding 30mph on the A857 road from a point
290m northwest of the most northerly access to the
Stornoway Waterworks and then in an easterly direction for
a distance of 830m or thereby to the existing 30mph speed
limit adjacent to the Blackwater Bridge. This will replace the
previous Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order for this
area, which had lapsed.
