Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders
Derby City Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to prohibit use of the roads by traffic.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Goodsmoor Road, Derby
WHEN: 05 March 2025 to 06 March 2025 (09.00 - 15.30) 

WHERE: Goodsmoor Road, from its junction with Stenson Road to its junction over the Railway bridge. 

REASON: Trial holes 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Stenson Road – Kenilworth Avenue – Newdigate Street – Sinfin Lane – Wordsworth Avenue and the same in the opposite direction.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Kipling Drive, Derby

WHEN: 03 March 2025 to 13 March 2025 (08.00 - 15.30 road will be opened each night) 

WHERE: Kipling Drive;- from its junction with Uttoxeter Road to its junction with Tesco car park, from its junction with Tesco car park to its junction with Acacia Avenue, from its junction with Acacia Avenue for a distance of approximately 40 metres. Works to be done in phases. 

REASON: Carriageway resurfacing 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Uttoxeter Road – Etwall Road – Hedingham Way - Brierfield Way – Kipling Drive and the same in the opposite direction.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Olivier Street, Derby

WHEN: 03 March 2025 to 05 March 2025 

WHERE: Olivier Street from its junction with Cambridge Street for an approximate distance of 30 metres. 

REASON: Gas works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Olivier Street – Holcombe Street – Dairy House Road – Cambridge Street and the same in the opposite direction.


Temporary Road Closure Order On Bateman Street, Derby

WHEN: 03 March 2025 to 04 March 2025 (21.00 to 06.00 Overnight) 

WHERE: Bateman Street, from its junction with Osmaston Road for a distance of approximately 50 metres. 

REASON: Telecom works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Bateman Street – Osbourne Street – London Road – Bradshaw Way – Osmaston Road and the same in the opposite direction


Temporary Road Closure Order On Canal Street, Derby

WHEN: 02 March 2025 

WHERE: Canal Street, from its junction with Castleward Boulevard and Park Street heading towards Siddals Road. A distance of approximately 20 metres. 

REASON: Water works

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Canal Street – Siddals Road – Railway Terrace – Midland Road – Carrington Street and the same in the opposite direction 


Temporary Road Closure Order On Thorndike Avenue, Derby

WHEN: 03 March 2025 

WHERE: Thorndike Avenue, from No 42 to No 44. A distance of approximately 100 metres. 

REASON: Water works 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Thorndike Avenue – Garrick Street – Anderson Street – Radford Street and the same in the opposite direction

Derby City Council (Victoria & Albert Street area) (Moving Vehicle Restrictions) (Amendment to Map Based Schedule) (No.58) Order 2024

Derby City Council has made this Traffic Regulation Order on 13 February 2025, which comes into effect on 17 March 2025 under Sections 1, 2, 4, 9, 32, 35, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53 and part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and under the Traffic Management Act 2004 and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of schedule 9 to the 1984 Act.

The purpose of the Order is to introduce:
Prohibition of Right Turn for Motor Vehicles, Exemption 1 to replace existing No Left Turn for All Vehicles on St Peter’s Street at its junction with Albert Street. Cyclists will be exempt from this banned manoeuvre.

Prohibition of Right Turn for Motor Vehicles, Exemption 1 on Exchange Street at its junction with Albert Street. Cyclists will be exempt from this banned manoeuvre.

Prohibition of Left Turn for Motor Vehicles, Exemption 1 on the Corn Market at its junction with Albert Street to replace existing No Left Turn for All Vehicles. Cyclists will be exempt from this banned manoeuvre.

Prohibition of Left Turn for Motor Vehicles, Exemption 1 on St James Street at its junction with The Strand/ Victoria Street to replace existing No Left Turn for All Vehicles. Cyclists will be exempt from this banned manoeuvre.

Revocation of the following restrictions on Victoria Street and Albert Street:

Bus, Cycle and Hackney Carriages Only, on the Westbound side of Albert Street from its junction with Exchange Street to its junction with St Peter’s Street, and on the Eastbound side of Victoria Street from its junction with The Strand to its junction with Cornmarket.

Prohibition of driving of motor vehicles at all times except public service vehicles and hackney carriages, 5pm to 10am also access, on the Westbound side of Victoria Street from its junction with St Peter’s Street to its junction with The Strand, and on the Eastbound side of Albert Street from its junction with Cornmarket to its junction with Morledge.

To be replaced by:
One Way For All Motor Vehicles, on Victoria Street and Albert Street, in a Westerly direction, from its junction with Morledge to its junction with The Strand. Cyclists will be exempt from this one way restriction.

Contraflow Mandatory Cycle Lane on Victoria Street and Albert Street, in an Easterly direction from its junction with The Strand to its junction with Morledge

Copies of the Order and a copy of the Authority’s Statement of Reasons for making the Orders, may be inspected online at https://www.derby.gov.uk/tro 

Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Order on the grounds that it is outside the powers of the Acts or because it does not comply with any requirement or regulations made under it, may, within six weeks of the date of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.
