What is happening?

Alternative routes are available via:

1. Parsons Heath, Fox Street, John De Bois Hill, Colchester Road, Station Road, Frating Road, Ardleigh Road and vice versa (with access only into Colchester Road, Bromley Road).

2. Harwich Road, Harwich Road Roundabout, St Andrews Avenue, Greenstead Roundabout, Avon Way, Longridge and vice versa (with access only into Hawthorn Avenue, Bromley Road).

The Order came into effect on 6th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Chapel Road, Boxted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chapel Road, Boxted in the City of Colchester from a point approximately 20m south east of its junction with Straight Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th February 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC3602830438 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole installation works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Dedham Road, Straight Road and vice versa (with access only into Cage Lane, Chapel Road).

The Order came into effect on 6th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Clears Road, Layer Marney) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Clears Road, Layer Marney in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 240m north east of its junction with Haynes Green Road for a distance of approximately 130m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th February 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD0113748 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Haynes Green Road, Maldon Road, B1022 Colchester Road, Church Road, Layer Breton Hill, The Street, Malting Green Road, Wigborough Road, Malting Road and vice versa (with access only into The Crescent, Clears Road, Haynes Green Road).

The Order came into effect on 6th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Halstead Road Roundabout & Halstead Road Northbound, Stanway) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Halstead Road Roundabout & Halstead Road Northbound, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from its junction with A12 J27 Link Slip Road (northbound offslip) to its junction with Halstead Road in a north/northeasterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st February 2025 for 1 night, or where stated on a valid permit (KZ30629278 – National Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by National Highways.

An alternative route is available via A12, A12 J27 Spur Lexden, Spring Lane Roundabout, Cymbeline Way, London Road, Tollgate Roundabout, Essex Yeoman Way, A12 J27/A1124, A12, A12 J27/A10140, A120 J12 East Roundabout, A120 J12 Between Roundabouts, A120 J12 West Roundabout, A120 J13/A131/B1256 Roundabout, Braintree Bypass, Broad Road Roundabout, High Garrett, Halstead Road, Pennycroft Corner, Braintree Hill, Braintree Road, Mount Hill, Trinity Street, Bridge Street, Hedingham Road, Brett Street, A1124 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 6th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Old Ipswich Road, Ardleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Old Ipswich Road, Ardleigh in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Turnpike Close for a distance of approximately 135m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th February 2025 for 1 night, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20187200570 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while road maintenance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Turnpike Close, A12, Park Lane, Dedham Road, Severalls Lane, Old Ipswich Road, Crown Interchange Roundabout, A120 J12/A1232 J20, E Eastbound Slip From A1232 J20 and Old Ipswich Road.

The Order came into effect on 6th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, City of Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order (No.4) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on the above lengths of road as specified in the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the temporary waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping and On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) (Amendment No. 4) Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction at the above locations.

Works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period and are required for the safety of the public and workforce while various works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
