(Various Roads, Saffron Walden) (District of Uttlesford) (20mph Zone) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that Essex County Council has made the above Order under Sections 84(1) (a) and (2) and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Effect of the Order:
To introduce a 20mph zone on the following roads in the Parish of Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford.

Date of operation:
The Order will come into operation on 14 February 2025.

Application to the High Court:
Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in the Order on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.
(Footpath 91, Thaxted) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close Footpath 91, Thaxted in the District of Uttlesford from its junction with Bolford Street, north for approximately 20 metres.
The 20s Zone is to be closed for safety purposes while bridge repair works are undertaken and other permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public while repair work and an investigation of the condition of the bridge is carried out.
The closure is expected to commence on 24 February 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Anso Road, Hempstead) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close that length of Anso Road, Hempstead in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 115m north east of its junction with Walden Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 11 March 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX00697534819 – Affinity Water).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on site-network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Anso Road, Walden Road, Sampford Road, Hempstead Road, Hill Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Bartlow Road, Hadstock) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close that length of Bartlow Road, Hadstock in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 235m south east of its junction with Moules Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 11 March 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BQ008D121848195253032024 – Openreach).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on site-network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole installation works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Bartlow Road, Hadstock Road, Dean Road, Rutt Lane, The Grip (B1052), Hadstock Road, Linton Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Ickleton Road, Great Chesterford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close that length of Ickleton Road, Great Chesterford in the District of Uttlesford District, from its junction with Whiteways for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th March 2025 for 1 night (00:01-04:30), or where stated on a valid permit (L/T3786-45-75-100325 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works, with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overnight renewal works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Ickleton Road, Newmarket Road, London Road, Cambridge Road, High Street, Strethall Road, Coploe Road, Abbey Street, Abbey Street Spur To C233, Abbey Street (C284), Frogge Street, and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Little Sampford Road, Little Bardfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close that length of Little Sampford Road, Little Bardfield in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 780m north west of its junction with Cokes Lane for a distance of approximately 60m in a north westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04100258618 – Essex Water).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works, with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Essex Water.
An alternative route is available via Little Sampford Road, Hawkspur Green Road, Hall Road, Bridge Street, Braintree Road, Bardfield Road, Finchingfield Road, Bardfield Road, Bardfield End Green, Bardfield Road, Bardfield Road, Ashdon Road, Bridge Street, The Street, and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 28th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Springhill Road, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
- Phase 1: To temporarily close that length of Springhill Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Borough Lane for a distance of approximately 50m in a north easterly direction.
- Phase 2: To temporarily close that length of Springhill Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 50m south west of its junction with Borough Lane for a distance of approximately 145m in a south westerly direction.
- Phase 3: To temporarily close that length of Springhill Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Summerhill Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a north easterly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 10th March 2025 for 26 days (to be completed in phases), or where stated on a valid permit (ZP50101400140749 – Cadent).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works, with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
An alternative route is available via Summerhill Road, Newport Road, London Road, Borough Lane, and vice versa (with access only into Springhill Road).
The Order will come into effect on 20th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Carmen Street, Great Chesterford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close that length of Carmen Street, Great Chesterford in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 100m north east of its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a north easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th February 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04100255888 – Affinity Water).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works, with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Carmen Street, Newmarket Road, Church Street, School Street, and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 6th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
