What is happening?

Temporary Closure of West Street & Lower Street, Winterborne Stickland

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along West Street, Winterborne Kingston from outside West Down Barn, West Street and Sunnyside Farm, Lower Street (in both directions), a distance of approximately 840 metres.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 24 February 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 5 March 2025.

This Order will provide Openreach engineers with a safe working area to lay ducting.

An alternative route will be signed using: C32, A354, C6 and vice versa.

Temporary Closure of Toller Lane, Toller Porcorum

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along TOLLER LANE, TOLLER PORCORUM, between the entrance to Riverside Bungalow and a point approximately 30 metres west.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 03 March 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 March 2025.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out repairs to a damaged parapet.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Cambridge Road, Weymouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along CAMBRIDGE ROAD, WEYMOUTH, between its junctions with Cumberland Drive and Albany Road, a distance of approximately 380 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 17 February 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 17 April 2025.

This Order will enable SGN, safe access to upgrade the gas main.

An alternative route will be signed using: Cumberland Drive - Albany Road.

Various Roads, Weymouth

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of Dorset proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

The general effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time restrictions along parts of the A354 Portland Road and Merley Road, Weymouth.

As part of the traffic management scheme, Dorset Council, in exercise of powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, intends to:

  • Install a new signalised puffin crossing along the A354 Portland Road, Weymouth

  • Install a new signalised toucan crossing along Langton Avenue, Weymouth (at its junction with the A354 Portland Road)

  • Install a new signalised puffin crossing along Merley Road, Weymouth (at its junction with the A354 Portland Road)

Temporary Closure of C10, Winterbourne Abbas

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended.

All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along C10, WINTERBOURNE ABBAS between its junction with A35 and its junction with Roman Road, a distance of approximately 585 metres.

The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 03 March 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 14 March 2025.

This Order will enable Wessex Water safe access to drill a new water main.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: Muckleford Road - A37 - A35.
