What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (BEDALE STREET, MARDALE STREET AND NIDDERDALE AVENUE, HETTON-LE-HOLE, SUNDERLAND) (20MPH SPEED LIMIT ZONE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 12th February 2025 Sunderland City Council made an Order under Sections 1 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Part IV of the Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The Order will come into operation on 20th February 2025 with the effect of introducing a 20mph Speed Limit Zone along the roads described in the Schedule below for their entire length. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made. An electronic copy of the documents can be obtained by emailing: statutoryorders@sunderland.gov.uk. Please quote reference: JA/82639 in all correspondence. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with may within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
