Watkin Ln - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(BROWNEDGE ROAD, LEYLAND ROAD AND WATKIN LANE, LOSTOCK HALL, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) (PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN) (PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed in an Eastbound direction over that length of Brownedge Road, Lostock Hall from Leyland Road, Lostock Hall to Lourdes Avenue, Lostock Hall.
AND FURTHER, no person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to make a left hand turn from Leyland Road, Lostock Hall onto Brownedge Road, Lostock Hall.
AND FURTHER, no person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to make a right hand turn from Watkin Lane, Lostock Hall onto Brownedge Road, Lostock Hall.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours until 1700 hours on Sunday 23rd February 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will not be maintained due to the nature of the closure to maintain flow of traffic. Cyclists wishing to proceed along Brownedge Road, Lostock Hall in an eastbound direction must either dismount and walk through the pedestrian walkway provided on site or follow the diversion routes.
4. Pedestrian and cycle access to properties will always be maintained.
5. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Leyland Road (Southbound only) and Brownedge Road, Lostock Hall
Watkin Lane, Lostock Hall – Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall – London Way, Bamber Bridge.
Watkin Lane (Northbound only) and Brownedge Road, Lostock Hall
Leyland Road, Lostock Hall – Leyland Road, Penwortham northbound as far as The Cawsey Roundabout – Leyland Road, Penwortham southbound coming from The Cawsey Roundabout – Watkin Lane, Lostock Hall – Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall – London Way, Bamber Bridge.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow water supply connection replacement works to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
