What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(SPRING LANE, SAMLESBURY, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Spring Lane, Samlesbury from Nabs Head Lane, Samlesbury for a distance of 150m in a North Westerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 24th February 2025 until 1800 hours on Friday 28th February 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will not be maintained due to the nature of the works resulting in there being insufficient carriageway width available.
4. Pedestrian and cycle access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Spring Lane, Samlesbury – Further Lane, Samlesbury (into Ribble Valley) – Further Lane, Mellor – Preston New Road, Mellor (into South Ribble Borough) – Preston New Road, Mellor Brook – Preston New Road, Samlesbury – Cuerdale Lane, Samlesbury – Spring Lane, Samlesbury and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow the installation of a new fire hydrant to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
