Maltkiln Lane - Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic to Allow New Water Connection Installation Works
What is happening?

(C172 MALTKILN LANE, BISPHAM, WEST LANCASHIRE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of C172 Maltkiln Lane, Bispham from the southern boundary of the property named The Smithy to the northern boundary of the property named The Beeches.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 17th February 2025 until 1700 hours on Wednesday 19th February 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will not be maintained owing to the narrow width of the road and nature of the works making vehicle passage not possible. Cyclists will be required to either dismount and walk through the pedestrian walkway provided on site or follow the signed diversion.
4. Pedestrian and cycle access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:- C171 Green Lane, Bispham – B5246 Hall Lane, Bispham – B5246 Robin Lane, Bispham – B5246 Robin Lane, Hilldale – C172 Chorley Road, Hilldale – C172 Maltkiln Lane, Bispham and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow new water connection installation works to be carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities.
