Cumbria, Speed Limit Changes On Various Roads

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, SOUTH LAKELAND AREA) (CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF SPEED LIMITS) (ORDER 2024) VARIATION ORDER NO. 2 202x

1. Westmorland and Furness Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Sections 82, 83 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of the Police, in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.

2. The effect of the proposed Order will be to amend the speed limits to enhance road safety and for preserving or improving the amenities of the areas through which the roads run at the following locations: -

a. Lengths of Roads subject to 20mph speed limit:

Allithwaite - The entire extents of U5165 Hazelgarth, Highcroft Drive & Vicarage Lane, U5169 Jack Hill & Woodlands Drive, U5170 Church Road; U5171 Fellside & Underfell, U5819 Uplin Crescent, U5826 Templands Park, U5910 Greendales and U5955 Blenkett View; and parts of the B5277 (Holme Lane), C5040 The Square and Church Road, U5165 Green Lane and Boarbank Lane, and U5166 Templands & Locker Lane.

Ambleside - The entire extents of A5075 Borrans Road, C5001 Smithy Brow & North Road, C5541 Millans Park, C5557 Vicarage Road, U5539, and U5533 - Greenbank Road, High Greenbank Road and Castlefield, U5534 Belle Vue Lane & Nook Lane, U5535 Ellerigg Road, Sweden Bridge Road & Sweden Park, U5536, U5537 - Oaks Field, Lower Edinboro, Fairview Rd, Chapel Hill, How Head, U5540 Stockghyll Brow & Lane, U5542, U5543, U5545, U5546, U5547, U5548 Loughrigg Avenue, U5549 Old Lake Road, U5550 - Gale How Park, Old Lake Rd, High Gale, Lower Gale, Low Gale, U5551, U5552, U5553, U5783 - Kirkfield Rise, Kirkfield, Hill Top Rd, U5803 and U5848; and parts of the A591 Rydal Road and Wansfell Road, A593 and A593 Rothay Road, C5001 Kirkstone Road and U5532 Under Loughrigg.

Coniston - The entire extents of C5005 Shepherd's Bridge Lane, C5006 incl Station Road, U5006

Silver Bank, U5007 Collingwood Close, U5008 Little Moss & Little Moss Close, U5009 Ruskin

Avenue & The Garth, U5011 Waverley and Lake Road, U5012 incl Old Furness Road, U5013, U5034, U5569 Hawkshead Old Road and U5880 Hellens Court; and parts of the A593, B5285 and U5033 Walna Scar Lane.

Gleaston - Parts of C5031 Leece - Gleaston - Urswick Road, U5149 Dendron - Gleaston Scales Rd and U5150 Great and Little Urswick -The entire extents of U5I36, U5I37 St Mary's Garth, U5I38, U5785 Greenbank Gardens and U5896; and parts of C5031 Church Road, C5035 Church View and U5132 Stone Dike Lane.

Natland - The entire extents of U5268 Park Close, U5626 Oxenholme Lane, U5627 all sections including Helm Lane, Abbey Drive, Abbey Gardens, Robby Lea Drive, U5905, U5931 St Marks and U5945; and parts of C5071 and U5625 Hawes Lane.

Oxenholme - The entire extents of C5067 Helmside Road, U0676 Bolefoot, U0956 Fell Close,

U0784 Hill Place, U0915 including the roads called Bleaswood Road, Bleaswood Close and Scar View Road and U971 Helmside Gardens.

Sedgwick -The entire extents of U5657, U5658, U5784, U5874 and U5903; and parts of C5071

Halfpenny Lane & Back Lane, C5075 and U5659.

Swarthmoor - The entire extents of U5129 Park Road, U5130 Goad Street, U5582 Rufus Lane and Kingsley Avenue, U5584 Moorgarth, U5695 Back Fox St, U5579 Birkrigg Close, Park Field and Park Side and U5583 all sections including Park Avenue, Willow Court; and parts of U5695 Fox St and U5696 Main Road.

b. Lengths of Roads subject to 30mph speed limit:

Allithwaite -Part of B5277; Ambleside -Parts of A591 Rydal Road, A593 and B5286; Coniston -The entire length of U5005, and parts of A593 and B5285; Gleaston -Parts of C5031; Natland - Parts of C5071; Oxenholme - Parts of A65; Sedgwick - Parts of C5075; and, Swarthmoor - Parts of U5696

c. Lengths of road subject to 40 mph Speed Limit: Natland - Parts of C5071; and, Oxenholme - Parts of A65

d. Lengths of road subject to 50 mph Speed Limit: Oxenholme - Parts of A65 Oxenholme to Endmoor
