What is happening?
WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING
(STREATLEY HILL, STREATLEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Streatley Hill in Streatley between its junction with Reading Road and its junction with The Coombe. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via B4009 Streatley Hill, B4009 Aldworth Road, B4009 Unnamed Road from Aldworth to Westridge Green, Reading Road, Aldworth Road, Pangbourne Road, Pangbourne Hill, A340 Church Road, A329 Station Road, A329 Shooters Hill, A329 Reading Road and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for SGN to carry out permanent carriageway repairs following emergency gas works. The proposed Order will come into effect on 17th February 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 17th and 23rd February 2025.
(ASHAMPSTEAD ROAD, BRADFIELD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING AND WIDTH RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025 The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Ashampstead Road in Bradfield between its junction with Buscot Hill and property known as Vine Lodge. Ashampstead Road will have a temporary width restriction of 2.5 metres at its junction with Buscot Hill. The alternative route for cars and light vehicles affected by the Order is via Ashampstead Road, Yattendon Lane, The Square, Everington Lane, Yattendon Road, B4009 High Street, B4009 Newbury Road, B4009 Long Lane, B4009 Shaw Hill, B4009 Shaw Road, A4 London Road, A4 Benham Hill, A4 London Road, A4 Benham Hill, A4 Bath Road, A4 Chapel Street, A4 London Road, A4 Bath Road, A340 Road Known as Pangbourne Road, Common Hill and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Feltham Construction to carry out refurbishment works on Army House at Bradfield College. The proposed Order will come into effect on 24th February 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place for various periods between 24th February and 21st November 2025. Exact dates will be communicated through Stakeholder communications.
(NEWBURY ROAD, EASTBURY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Newbury Road in Eastbury between its junction with Unnamed Road from Newbury Road to Eastbury Grange and its junction with Station Lane. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Newbury Road, Newbury Street, B4001 High Street, B4001 Hungerford Hill, B4000 Hungerford Hill, B4000 Ermin Street, A338 Ermin Street, A338 Hungerford Hill, A338 Newbury Road, Church Street, Newbury Road, Hillside, Newbury Road and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out service pipe repair. The proposed Order will come into effect on 20th February 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 20th and 22nd February 2025
(BISHOPS ROAD, TUTTS CLUMP) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Bishops Road in Tutts Clump between its junction with Mariners Lane and its junction with Rotten Row Hill. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Rotten Row Hill, Rotten Row, Mariners Lane and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Gigaclear to repair cable in carriageway. The proposed Order will come into effect on 4th March 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 4th and 5th March 2025.
(LAMBOURN ROAD, BOXFORD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Lambourn Road in Boxford between its junction with High Street and its junction with Coombesbury Lane. The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via High Street, B4000 Baydon Road, B4000 Wickham Road, B4000 Ermin Street, B4000 Unnamed Road from A4 to Stockcross, A4 Bath Road, A4 Western Avenue, B4494 Oxford Road, Grove Road, Lambourn Road, Valley Road, Lambourn Road and vice versa. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Openreach to access carriageway boxes with gully sucker. The proposed Order will come into effect on 3rd March 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 each day from 3rd to 5th March 2025.
(BUCKLEBURY ALLEY, COLD ASH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025 The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Bucklebury Alley in Cold Ash between its junction with Drove Lane and its junction with Hermitage Road. There is no alternative route for this road therefore residential access and emergency vehicle access will be maintained outside of the hours of 0800 and 1600. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works. The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to make repairs to their network. The proposed Order will come into effect on 4th March 2025. It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 4th March 2025 and 6th March 2025.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
