(Borough of Sandwell) Lombard St & Lombard St West and Stony Lane & Londonderry Lane - Temporary Road Closure, One-Way Suspension and No Right Turn Ban
What is happening?
SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Borough Council of Sandwell (Lombard Street & Lombard Street West, West Bromwich) (Temporary Road Closure, One-Way Suspension & No Right Turn Ban) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Lombard Street which will be closed from its junction with High Street for approximately 20 metres (15/02/2025 - 16/02/2025). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The one-way system at Lombard Street will be suspended for the duration of the Lombard Street road closure to allow for access and egress of businesses on Lombard Street from Church Street. A no right turn ban will be in place at Lombard Street West for the duration of the closure at Lombard Street. In addition, there will be 2-way temporary traffic signals in operation on High Street, south of the junction with Lombard Street and north of the junction of Lombard Street, for the duration of the Lombard Street closure. Traffic will be diverted via Victoria Street, Price Street, West Bromwich Ringway, Bull Street, Walsall Street, Reform Street, Congregation Way, Cronehills Linkway and Bratt Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 16/02/2025 effective from 15/02/2025 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for new supply works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Stony Lane and Londonderry Lane, Smethwick) (Temporary Road and Side Roads Closures) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the following roads and in Smethwick: Stony Lane will be closed between the roundabout at Little Moor Hill and the extended northern kerbline of Bleak Street (anticipated dates 17/02/2025 - 09/03/2025). Traffic will be diverted via Stony Lane, Manor Road, Holly Lane, St Paul’s Road and vice-versa. The following roads will be closed at the point of their junctions with Stony Lane (anticipated dates 17/02/2025 - 09/03/2025): Devonshire Road, Bleak Street and Green Street – there is alternative access/egress for these roads. Londonderry Lane (road adjacent to Nos. 84-92) will be closed from its junction with Stony Lane to its junction with Londonderry Lane (anticipated dates 10/03/2025 - 28/03/2025). Traffic will be diverted via Manor Road, Hales Lane, The Uplands, Taylors Lane and vice-versa. Stony Lane will be closed from the extended boundary of the south side of No.172 Stony Lane for a distance of 55 metres in a southerly direction (anticipated dates 10/03/2025 - 28/03/2025). Traffic will be diverted via Manor Road, Church Road, Bearwood Road, High Street (A4030), High Street (B4169), Stony Lane and vice-versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 28/03/2025 effective from 17/02/2025. Purpose – to facilitate gas main replacement works by Cadent Gas Ltd.
