Cumberland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A5086 SULLART STREET, FERN BANK, GALLOWBARROW AND CROWN STREET, COCKERMOUTH AND C2021 NEAR IREBY) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. A5086 Sullart Street, Cockermouth from its junction with Crown Street to a point where it joins

2. Gallowbarrow; and A5086 Gallowbarrow, Cockermouth from its junction with Sullart Street to its junction with The Level.

Alternative Route: via The Level, Lamplugh Road, A66, A595, A5086, Gote Brow, Gote Bridge and Crown Street.

Duration: From 17 February 2025 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref: TTROC/13452)

3. The following sections of Fern Bank, Cockermouth: from its southern junction with the A5086, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 27m; and from its northern junction with the A5086, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 30m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 17 February 2025 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROC/13902)

4. A5086 Crown Street, Cockermouth from the mini roundabout junction with Gote Bridge to its junction with Sullart Street.

Alternative Route: via Sullart Street and Gallowbarrow. The Level, Lamplugh Road, A66, A595, A5086, Gote Brow and Gote Bridge.

Duration: From 3 March 2025 for approx. 6 days (Ref: TTROC/13453)

5. C2021, near Ireby from its junction with the U2129, extending in an overall south easterly direction for approx. 1.2km.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 3 March 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROC/13599)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times

The Order will come into operation on 17 February 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
