Annfield Plain, Temporary Road Closure Due To Water Main Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Elizabeth Street, Thomas Street, Mary Street, James Street, Welsh Terrace, Welsh Terrace Back, William Street, New Durham Road, Laverick Terrace, Mordue Terrace, Johnson Terrace, Park Close and Northgate, Annfield Plain) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2024

The Council on 15/11 /2024 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road. Elizabeth Street a 105m length from the rear of No 1 Elizabeth Street to the side of No 17 Thomas Street Thomas Street a 24m length from side of No 17 Thomas Street to the side of No 17 Mary Street Mary Street a 107m length from the side of No 17 Mary Street to the rear of No 1 Mary Street James Street a 22m length to the rear of No's 1 to 4 James Street Welsh Terrace a 20m length to the side of No 1 Mary Street Welsh Terrace Back a 60m length from the side of No 7 to the rear of No 1 Welsh Terrace William Street a 99m length from the front of No 14 William Street to the side of No 1 Welsh Terrace New Durham Road a 115m length to the rear of No's 1 to 18 New Durham Road Laverick Terrace a 78m length to the rear of No's 1 to 14 Laverick Terrace Mordue Terrace a 104m length to the rear of No's 1 to 18 Mordue Terrace Johnson Terrace a 100m length to the rear of No's 1 to 18 St Aidans Crescent Park Close a 107m length from the side of No 18 St Aidans Crescent to the side of No 16 Vincent Terrace and Northaate a 108m length from the rear of No 29 West Road to the rear of No 1 West Road, a 57m length to the rear of Former Kelly Bakery and a 124m length to the rear of No's 1 to 19 Northgate, to enable water main works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of closure, alternative routes, where available, will be signposted on site.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works due to commence on 25/11/2024 have been delayed and will now commence from 8am on Monday 17/02/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 10 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
