A64, Stockton on the Forest - Temporary Speed Restriction and Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?
National HighwaysROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14THE A64 TRUNK ROAD(STOCKTON ON THE FOREST)(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable new junction, road widening, road marking, traffic island and sign works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start at 8pm on Monday 17 February 2025 for 6 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be, to impose, 24 hours a day at times during the works, a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the A64 northbound and southbound carriageways from Towthorpe Moor Lane to the unnamed road leading to Sandmartins Nursery, a distance of 1500 metres;
It will also be necessary, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to close the A64:(i) southbound carriageway approximately 824 metres north of Towthorpe Moor Lane;(ii) northbound carriageway approximately 764 metres north of Towthorpe Moor Lane; and(iii) footways adjacent to the A64 from Towthorpe Moor Lane to the unnamed road leading to Sandmartins Nursery.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restriction (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
The Order comes into force on 16 February 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
