What is happening?

Road. This Order is required to enable Thames Water to facilitate water mains works and all associated works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 month, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 24 February 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary speed limits, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.


Various Roads in Shalford and Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in those lengths of road specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice This Order, which will commence on 24 February 2025 for a period of 18 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of Surrey County Council, including but not limited to: highways improvement works and/or highway maintenance works. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out in three phases. 

The works in part (a) of the Schedule to this Notice are anticipated to be carried out over 2 weeks between the hours of 8am and 5pm. 

The works in part (b) of the Schedule to this Notice are anticipated to be carried out over 3 weeks between the hours of 8am and 5pm. The works in parts (c) – (f) of the Schedule to this Notice are anticipated to be carried out over 5 nights between the hours of 8pm and 6am. Advanced warning signs will be displayed; and the temporary closures will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. 

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. 

During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.

Schedule
(a) the entire length of Broadford Road (A248) Shalford

Alternative Routes – Eastbound: A3100 Portsmourth Road/Park Street; A31 Farnham Road; A322 Bridge Street/Onslow Street; A281 Millbrook/Quarry Street/Shalford Road/The Street; and A281 Horsham Road; and Westbound: A281 Horsham Road/The Street/Shalford Road/Quarry Street/Millbrook; A322 Onslow Street; A3100 Park Street; and A3100 Portsmouth Road.

(b) that length of Kings Road (A248) Shalford as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (A281) Horsham Road to its junction with (A248) New Road.

Alternative Route – Wonersh Common; The Street; Station Road; and A281 Horsham Road or this same route in reverse.

(c) that length of Millbrook (A281) Guildford as extends from its junctions with (A322) Onslow Street to its junction with (D4015) Quarry Street and (A281) Quarry Street

(d) that length of Quarry Street (A281) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4015) Quarry Street and (A281) Millbrook to its junction with (D4015) Chantry View Road and (A281) Shalford Road

(e) that length of Shalford Road (A281) Guildford as extends from its junction with (D4015) Chantry View Road and (A281) Quarry Street to its junction with (A281) The Street

(f) that length of The Street (A281) Shalford as extends from its junction with (A281) Shalford Road to its northern junction with (D208) Kings Road

Alternative Routes for parts (c) – (f) – Northbound: A281 Horsham Road; A248 Broadford Road; A3100 Porstmouth Road; A31 Farnham Road; and A322 Bridge Street/Onslow Street; and Southbound: A322 Onslow Street; A3100 Porstmouth Road; A248 Broadford Road; and A281 Horsham Road.


Ash Green Road (D66) and Harpers Road (D67) Ash Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of; (a) Ash Green Road (D66) Ash as extends from its junction with (D67) Harpers Road to its junction with (S7404) Equestrian Way; (b) Harpers Road (D67) Ash as extends from its junction with (D64) Pound Farm Lane to its junction with (X7413) Great Hawleys Lane. 

Alternative Route: Ash Green Road, Foreman Road, (A323) Guildford Road, and Wyke Lane, or this route in reverse. 

This Order is required to facilitate overhead cabling works for, or on behalf of Sunbelt Rentals. 

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days, between the hours of 8.30am and 3.30pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 03 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, as will access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists.


Knowle Lane (D184) Cranleigh Temporary Speed Limit Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be; a) to prohibit vehicles from driving or proceeding at a speed greater than 30 MPH in that length of; (a) Knowle Lane (D184) Cranleigh as extends from the lamp column numbered 5 situated to the south of (D5543) Newlands and in a southerly direction to a point 10 metres north of its junction with the entrance to the property known as “Knowle Park Aira Care Home” and (b) Suspend “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Cranleigh and Alfold in the Borough of Waverley) (30 MPH 40 MPH and 50 MPH Speed Limit) Order 2009” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in Part (a) of this Notice. 

This Temporary Traffic Order is required to allow a safe working zone in connection with construction works for, or on behalf of Surrey County Council.

These works are anticipated to be carried out over 5 days, within the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 03 March 2025. 

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary speed limit which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. 

The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1) Public Bridleways 11 and 12 (Wisley) and Public Byway Open to All Traffic 525 (Ockham)/D241 Elm Lane Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 20 July 2023 Surrey County Council made a temporary order to prohibit all traffic on foot or any other means from entering or proceeding along that length of:

i) Public Footpath 11 (Wisley) from the junction with Public Bridleway 8 (Wisley) on the northern side of Clearmount Bridge (Grid ref. 507440 159510) in an easterly, then north-easterly direction for approximately 1000 metres to a point at Wisley Common, south of Redhill Road, Cobham (Grid ref. 508786 159786).

ii) Public Footpath 12 (Wisley) from the junction with Public Footpath 11 (Wisley) (Grid ref. 507709 159576) in an easterly direction for approximately 370 metres to the junction with Public Bridleway 12 (Ockham) at Wisley Common (Grid ref. 508786, 159786).

iii) Public Byway Open to All Traffic 525 (Ockham)/D241 Elm Lane from the junction with Public Bridleway 16 Ockham (Grid ref. 507920, 158120) in a westerly direction to the junction with Elm Lane and Public Footpath 14 (Ockham) (Grid ref. 507437, 158052).

The Order is necessary by reason of danger to the public due to works taking place on and next to the paths as part of the M25 Junction 10 Improvement Scheme. 

It was in operation from 24 July 2023 for a period of 6 months until 24 January 2024 and was extended for a further year until 24 January 2025. It has now been extended in force by the Secretary of State for Transport for a further year until 24 January 2026, or until completion of works, if earlier, and while the relevant notices are displayed.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

There are no suggested alternative routes.

The ‘Surrey County Council Public Footpaths 11 and 12 (Wisley) and Public Byway Open to All Traffic 525 (Ockham)/D241 Elm Lane Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023 was made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
