What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
A257 The Hill, Littlebourne, CT3 1TD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow overhead structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A257 The Hill, Littlebourne, from 23rd February 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Newing Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 The Hill, High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, High Street, Gobery Hill, Roman Road, Ash Bypass, A256 Sandwich Bypass, Ramsgate Road, Richborough Way, A299 Hengist Way, A253 Canterbury Road West, Ramsgate Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road, Mill Road, Sturry Road, Tourtel Road, Military Road, Broad Street, Upper Bridge Street, A2050 St George’s Place, A257 Lower Chantry Lane, Longport, St Martin’s Hill, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry, CT3 4NG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A291 Herne Bay Road, Sturry, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 21st February 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Hicks Forstal Road and Sweechgate, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A291 Herne Bay Road, Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, St Nicholas at Wade roundabout, A28 Canterbury Road, Island Road, Staines Hill, Island Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
B2205 Tower Parade & Beach Walk, Whitstable. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2205 Tower Parade & Beach Walk, Whitstable, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 21st February 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for B2205 Tower Parade for vehicles under 4.0m or 13’-3” is via B2205 Tower Parade, Tankerton Road, Herne Bay Road, Chestfield Road, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Canterbury Road, Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street and vice versa.
The alternative route for B2205 Tower Parade for vehicles over 4.0m or 13’-3” is via B2205 Tower Parade, Tankerton Road, Herne Bay Road, St Johns Road, Colewood Road, Whitstable Road, Sea Street, Greenhill Bridge Road, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Canterbury Road, Oxford Street, High Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Harbour Street and vice versa.
The alternative route for Beach Walk is via Beach Walk, B2205 Tower Parade and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Boyden Gate Hill & Highstead, Chislet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Boyden Gate Hill & Highstead, Chislet, from 7th March 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
Boyden Gate Hill will be closed between the junctions with Ford Hill and Highstead, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Highstead will be closed between the junctions with Poachers End and Boyden Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Ford Hill, Highstead and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bredlands Lane, Sturry, CT2 0FF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bredlands Lane, Sturry, from 17th February 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite Spires Academy, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bredlands Lane, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Castle Street, Canterbury, CT1 2QW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Castle Street, Canterbury, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 19th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 16, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Castle Street, Watling Street, A28 Rhodaus Town, A28 Pin Hill, Castle Street and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Church Lane, Chislet. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Chislet, from 5th March 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed near to the junction with Chitty Lane North Westbound, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, Boyden Gate Hill, Highstead, Ford Hill, Maypole Lane, Maypole Road, Hoath Road, Babs Oak Hill, A28 Staines Hill, Island Road, The Glen, Nethergong Hill, Sandpit Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Church Road, Hoath. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Hoath, from 7th March 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Maypole Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Road, School Lane, Maypole Lane, Maypole Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Craddock Road, Canterbury, CT1 9SJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Craddock Road, Canterbury, from 20th February 2025, with estimated completion by 6th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Grove Road, Wickhambreaux. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Grove Road, Wickhambreaux, from 4th March 2025, with estimated completion by 5th March 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of New Grove House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Grove Road, The Street, Preston Lane, Preston Hill, A257 High Street, Canterbury Road, Wingham Road, High Street, Nargate Street, Wickham Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Nunnery Fields, Canterbury, CT1 3LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025
To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nunnery Fields, Canterbury from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 20th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 34a, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Nunnery Fields, South Canterbury Road, Ethelbert Road, Old Dover Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Swanton Lane, Littlebourne, CT3 4AX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025
To allow bollard installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Swanton Lane, Littlebourne, from 3rd March 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 07:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Swanton Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Swanton Lane, Elbridge Hill, Stodmarsh Road, A257 Littlebourne Road, Stodmarsh Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sweechgate, Broad Oak, CT2 0QH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sweechgate, Broad Oak, from 3rd March 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 104, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Sweechgate, Shalloak Road, Vauxhall Road, A28 Sturry Road, Mill Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
