What is happening?

HIGHWAYS

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

ASHFORD AREA

A20 Maidstone Road North Of Drovers Roundabout, Ashford. (TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow water mains works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction on part of A20 Maidstone Road North Of Drovers Roundabout, Ashford, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 7th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction on A20 Maidstone Road North Of Drovers Roundabout, Ashford will be imposed from the junction with Potters Corner, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

 

A28 Ashford Road, Great Chart. (TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction on part of A28 Ashford Road, Great Chart, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 19th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction on A28 Ashford Road, Great Chart will be imposed in the vicinity of Toke Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

 

B2080 Appledore Road, Tenterden, TN30 7BD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow sewer connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2080 Appledore Road, Tenterden, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 19th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Shrubcote and William Judge Close, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2080 Appledore Road, B2067 Golden Square, Oaks Road, A28 High Street, B2082 Smallhythe Road, Peening Quarter Road, Poplar Road, Stocks Road, Rye Road, B2080 Wittersham Road, B2082 Iden Road, Main Street, Iden Road, A268 Rye Road, Rye Hill, Fishmarket Road, A259 New Road, Brookland Bypass, B2080 Rhee Wall, Station Road, The Street, Tenterden Road, Reading Street and Appledore Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

B2080 Appledore Road, Tenterden, TN30 7DD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2080 Appledore Road, Tenterden, from 20th February 2025, with estimated completion by 21st February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Goddens, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2080 Appledore Road, B2067 Golden Square, Oaks Road, A28 High Street, B2082 Smallhythe Road, Peening Quarter Road, Poplar Road, Stocks Road, Rye Road, B2080 Wittersham Road, B2082 Iden Road, Main Street, Iden Road, A268 Rye Road, Rye Hill, Fishmarket Road, A259 New Road, Brookland Bypass, B2080 Rhee Wall, Station Road, The Street, Tenterden Road, Reading Street and Appledore Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

B2082 Smallhythe Road, Tenterden, TN30 7LN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow repair and renewal works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2082 Smallhythe Road, Tenterden and impose a temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 21st March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

B2082 Smallhythe Road will be closed between the hours of 19:00 and 05:00 only, in the vicinity of Oak Tree Court Retirement Living, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2082 Smallhythe Road, Peening Quarter Road, Poplar Road, Stocks Road, A268 Rye Road, Wittersham Road, Iden Road, Main Street, Grove Lane, Flackley Ash, Barnets Hill, Two Hovens, Peasmarsh Road, Whitebread Lane, Stoddards Lane, A28 Station Road, Hastings Road, High Street, Tenterden Road, Rolvenden Hill, Rolvenden Road, B2082 Smallhythe Road, and vice versa.

The temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction will be in place at all times, in the vicinity of Oak Tree Court Retirement Living, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

This speed restriction is in conjunction with multi-way lights.

 

Brook Street, Woodchurch. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Brook Street, Woodchurch, from 24th February 2025, with estimated completion by 26th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside Berridge Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2067 Brook Street, Kenardington Road, Warehorne Road, D1305 11 Acre Wood Lane Junction With B2067 To D1291 Junction With D1305 11 Acre Wood Lane, A2070 Ashford Road, Ashford Road Junction With Bypass Link Road To Hamstreet, A2070 From J A2070/B2080 Roundabout To J A2042, Hamstreet Bypass, A2070 From Ashford Road To District Boundary, A2070 Rhee Wall To Ashford Road, A259 J A2070/B2080 Roundabout, B2080 Rhee Wall Roundabout, Rhee Wall, Brenzett Corner Roundabout, Rhee Wall Road, Station Road, The Street, Tenterden Road, Reading Street, Appledore Road, B2067 Woodchurch Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Church Road & Barrey Road, Sevington. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road & Barrey Road, Sevington, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 25th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed between the junctions with Millstream Green and Barrey Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for these closures, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

 

Coldharbour Lane, Wye, TN25 5DA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Coldharbour Lane, Wye, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 7th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the properties Buena Vista and Withersdane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Coldharbour Lane, Scotton Street, Upper Bridge Street, Oxenturn Road, Naccolt Road, Spelders Hill, Nats Lane, The Street, Brabourne Road, Amage Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

East Mountain Lane, Kennington, TN25 4DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of East Mountain Lane, Kennington, from 6th March 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with A28 Canterbury Road and the property Vermont, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Gladstone Road, Willesborough, TN24 0DD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Gladstone Road, Willesborough, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 28th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Cudworth Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cudworth Road, Canterbury Road, Mead Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Long Hill, Chilham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Long Hill, Chilham, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 6th March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Thorpe Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Long Hill, Cobbs Hill, Mulberry Hill, A252 Maidstone Road and Long Hill.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Lower Road, Stone, TN30 7JH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lower Road, Stone, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 21st March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Rose Hill and Stone Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road, Appledore Road, Catts Hill, Wittersham Road, Stocks Road, Rose Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Pett Lane, Charing, TN27 0LF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow drainage cleansing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pett Lane, Charing, from 3rd March 2025, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with High Street and Toll Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Hill, A252 Charing Hill, Pilgrims Way, Toll Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Swain Road, Tenterden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow tree cutting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Swain Road, Tenterden, from 18th February 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from outside Oak Tree Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Swain Road, Swan Road, B2067 Woodchurch Road, B2080 Beacon Oak Road, Ashford Road and Swain Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

The Hill, Charing, TN27 0LX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow new water connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Hill, Charing, from 17th February 2025, with estimated completion by 21st February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between Wessex House and Seymour, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Hill, A252 Charing Hill, Ashford Road, A20 Maidstone Road, High Street, The Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Ashford - Preservation Treatment (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING AND TEMPORARY SPEED RESTRICTIONS) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow the Surface Preservation Scheme to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on various roads in Ashford. This Order takes effect on or after 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd September 2026. It may be necessary for some of the roads to be closed on multiple occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

After the Surface Treatment works are complete, temporary speed restrictions of 40 mph & 20 mph may be imposed for a period of up to 7 days, these will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.

These works are subject to weather conditions and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice. Every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates and any changes will be publicised.

Bethersden Road, Woodchurch

The road will be closed between the junctions with Redbrook Street and Lime Plurenden Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Redbrook Street and Plurenden Road.

Benenden Road & Rolvenden Road, Rolvenden and B2086 Regent Street, Rolvenden

The roads will be closed between the junctions with Iden Green Road and A28 High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Iden Green Road, Mill Street, Sponden Lane, A268 Rye Road, A28 Hastings Road and A28 High Street.

Canterbury Road, Challock & Charing

The roads will be closed between the junctions with Faversham Road and Buck Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A251 Buck Street, A251 Faversham Road, Sandyhurst Lane, A20 Maidstone Road, A252 Charing Hill and A252 Faversham Road.

The Street, Church Hill & School Road, Bethersden

The roads will be closed between the junctions with Forge Hill and A28 Ashford Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A28 Ashford Road and Forge Hill.

Church Hill, High Halden

The road will be closed between the junctions with A28 Ashford Road and Harborne Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via A28 Ashford Road, Woodchurch Road, Bethersden Road, Plurenden Road and vice versa.

High Halden Road, Biddenden

The road will be closed between the junctions with Bush Lane and Wagstaff Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via High Halden Road, Wagstaff Lane, Bush Lane, High Halden Lane, A262 Biddenden Road, Tenterden Road and vice versa.

Susans Hill, Woodchurch

The road will be closed between the junctions with Bethersden Road and Little Robhurst, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Bethersden Road, Front Road, B2067 Brook Street and Haycross Lane.

Little Robhurst, Woodchurch

The road will be closed between the junctions with Susans Hill and Swain Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Haycross Lane, B2067 Brook Street and Swain Road.

Ash Hill, Ruckinge

The road will be closed between the junctions with B2067 Hamstreet Road and Poundhurst Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Poundhurst Road, A2070, B2067 Ashford Road, B2067 Ruckinge Road and B2067 Hamstreet Road.

Bromley Green Road, Ruckinge

The road will be closed between the junctions with Capel Road and B2067 Hamstreet Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Capel Road and B2067 Hamstreet Road.

Smarden Road, Biddenden & The Cut, Smarden

The roads will be closed between the junctions with Burnthouse Lane and A274 Headcorn Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Burnthouse Lane, Bell Lane and A274 Headcorn Road.

 

Various Roads, Willesborough. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY ONE-WAY SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER MARCH 2025

To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads throughout Willesborough, from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 28th November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Please note, SGN will be working collaboratively with UKPN during this project and will be sharing road space as seen in the works schedule below;

Works Schedule

A2070 Kennington Road, Willesborough

A2070 Kennington Road will be closed from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 4th May 2025.

The road will be closed in phases, between the junctions with Blackwall Road North and Lees Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2070 Kennington Road, A2070 M20 J10 Roundabout, A2070 Spur From M20 J10, A292 Hythe Road, Mace Lane, Somerset Road, A2042 Canterbury Road, A28 Canterbury Road, A2070 Willesborough Road, Kennington Road and vice versa.

UKPN will be working under multi-way traffic lights on the A2070 between Crest Road and Blackwall Road North.

Blackwall Road North, Willesborough

Blackwall Road North will be closed from 3rd March 2025, with estimated completion by 10th March 2025.

The road will be closed from the junction with A2070 Kennington Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Blackwall Road South, A2070 Kennington Road, A2070 M20 J10 Roundabout, A2070 Spur From M20 J10, A292 Hythe Road, Mace Lane, Somerset Road, A2042 Canterbury Road, A28 Canterbury Road, A2070 Willesborough Road, Kennington Road and vice versa.

Silver Hill Road, Willesborough

Silver Hill Road will be closed from 10th March 2025, with estimated completion by 21st March 2025.

The road will be closed between the junction with A2070 Kennington Road and the roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Lees Road, A292 Hythe Road and main diversion route for A2070 Kennington Road closure.

The one-way order on Silver Hill Road will be suspended for the duration of this closure and multi-way traffic lights will be utilised to maintain access.

UKPN will be working within this closure at the same time as SGN.

Silver Hill Road & Lees Road, Willesborough

Silver Hill Road and Lees Road will be closed from 9th June 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd July 2025.

The roads will be closed in phases, between Abbey Way and the A292 Hythe Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via A292 Hythe Road, A2070 M20 J10 roundabout and A2070 Kennington Road.

The one-way order on Silver Hill Road will be suspended for the duration of this closure and multi-way traffic lights will be utilised to maintain access.

UKPN will be working within this closure at the same time as SGN, resident access will be maintained.

A292 Hythe Road, Church Road & Lees Road, Willesborough

A292 Hythe Road, Church Road & Lees Road will be closed from 7th July 2025, with estimated completion by 31st August 2025.

The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic on A292 Hythe Road (main diversion route) is via A2070 Spur From M20 J10 Ashford, A2070 M20 J10 Roundabout, A2070 From M20 J10 Roundabout To J A2042, A2070 From J A2042 To M20 J10 Roundabout, A2070 From M20 J10 Roundabout To J A2042, A2070 From M20 J10 Roundabout To J A2042 S (known as Bad Munstereifel Road A2070), A2042 Bad Munstereifel Road, Romney Marsh Roundabout, A2042 Romney Marsh Road, Avenue Jacques Faucheux, Beaver Road, Station Road and Wellesley Road.

The alternative route for Lees Road is via Silver Hill Road, A2070 Kennington Road and the main diversion route for A292 Hythe Road.

The alternative route for Church Road is via Osbourne Road, Hunter Road and the main diversion route for A292 Hythe Road.

The one-way order on Silver Hill Road will be suspended for the duration of this closure and multi-way traffic lights will be utilised to maintain access.
