Carlisle, Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C1041 BRISCO ROAD, VIADUCT ESTATE ROAD AND DEVONSHIRE WALK, CARLISLE) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. Brisco Road, Carlisle, from a point adjacent to the property known as Manor House, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 70m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Brisco Road, Newbiggin Road, Durdar Road, Blackwell Road, Boundary Road and Upperby Road.

Duration: From 25 February 2025 for approx. 8 days (Ref TTROC/13456)

2. Viaduct Estate Road, Carlisle, from its junction with Bridge Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 50m.

Alternative Route: via Bridge Street, Shaddongate Junction Street, Charlotte Street, Nelson Bridge and the unrestricted section of Viaduct Estate Road.

Duration: From 3 March 2025 for approx. 12 days (Ref TTROC/13181)

3. Devonshire Walk, Carlisle, from its junction with Castle Way, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 30m.

Alternative Route: via Castle Way, West Tower Street Slip, Dacre Walk and the unrestricted section of Devonshire Walk.

Duration: From 17 March 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref TTROC/13180)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 373 3736 or via the Cumberland Council website. The references to quote are stated above.

The Order will come into operation on 25 February 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
