What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

(BROOK STREET, ALEXANDER STREET AND ST CUTHBERTS STREET, CARLISLE)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

  1. Brook Street, Carlisle from its junction London Road to its junction with Bowman Street.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Brook Street, Fusehill Street, Grey Street and London Road.

    Duration: From 24 February 2025 for approx. 4 weeks (Ref: TTROC/13471)

  2. Alexander Street, Carlisle from its junction with London Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 35m.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Alexander Street, Watson Street, Howe Street, Grey Street and London Road.

    Duration: From 17 March 2025 for approx. 18 days (Ref: TTROC/13474)

  3. St Cuthberts Street, Carlisle from its junction with London Road to its junctions with Oswald Street and Lindisfarne Street.

    Alternative Route: via Oswald Street, Linton Street, Brook Street, Howe Street, Grey Street and London Road.

    Duration: From 17 March 2025 for approx. 18 days (Ref: TTROC/13476)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 24 February 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
