What is happening?

NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL
B717 WEST BENHAR ROAD, SHOTTS
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

On 27 January 2025 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on facilitating Infrastructure Connection Works associated with a Wind Farm Development) on B717 West Benhar Road, Shotts from its junction with B7057 Shotts Road north eastwards to its junction with Breslin Terrace, a distance of 2400m or thereby by reason of works being executed on or near that location.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the south-west side of the closure on B7057 Shotts Road wishing access to the north-east side of the closure on B717 West Benhar Road should proceed via B7057 Shotts Road, B7066 Hirst Road, B7066 Edinburgh Road, B717 Old Eastfield Road and B717 West Benhar Road. Vehicles on the north-east side of the closure on B717 West Benhar Road wishing access to the south-west side of the closure on B7057 Shotts Road should proceed vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be permitted at all times.

Vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.

The Order, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 10th February 2025 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Sunday, 16th March 2025.
