North Stret, Temporary Traffic Restrictions Due To Construction Access

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order
Oxford, North Street Area, Osney Prohibition of Vehicles & Footbridge Closure Date of Order: 17 February 2025 Coming into force: 27 February 2025
This Order is being introduced to enable access to a construction site including use of a crane to lift materials, and new water and electricity supplies which are anticipated to be completed 6 December 2025. This is a 24 hour restriction.
The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in North Street and the northernmost part of East Street. Also, no access to the public footbridge from Botley Road to North Street. All Parking Bays will be suspended on North Street and 4 bays on East Street. Parking for residents only may be available outside works hours subject to site management. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road, subject to safety considerations and progress of the works. Access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained.
The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via East Street, South Street and Bridge Street.
The relevant parts of the Oxfordshire County Council (West Oxford and Osney) (Controlled Parking Zone and Waiting Restrictions) Consolidation Order 2009 (as amended) which permits parking will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15187/AC)
