York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles
What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 30 January 2025 in respect of the location numbered (1). The Council also made an order on Thursday, 06 February 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (2), (3), (4), (5), (6) & (7). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (8) & (9).
(1) LEEMAN ROAD & KINGSLAND TERRACE (CONTINUATION), YORK
This Order continues in force The York (Leeman Road & Kingsland Terrace) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2025 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of roads on Leeman Road & Kingsland Terrace, York (i) on Leeman Road between its junctions with Carlisle Street and Kingsland Terrace and (ii) on Kingsland Terrace between its junctions with Leeman Road and Garfield Terrace (closed roads) during the period commencing at 0601 hours on Monday, 03 February 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 (works period) or on a date when highway maintenance works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between the following dates and times:
- 2100hrs on 10/01/2025 until 0600hrs on 13/01/2025
- 2100hrs on 17/01/2025 until 0600hrs on 20/01/2025
- 2100hrs on 24/01/2025 until 0600hrs on 27/01/2025
- 2100hrs on 31/01/2025 until 0600hrs on 03/02/2025
- 1930hrs on 24/03/2025 until 0600hrs on 26/03/2025
An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Salisbury Road, Water End, Clifton, Bootham, Museum Street, Station Rise.
(2) LORDS MOOR LANE LEVEL CROSSING, STRENSALL
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding through that length of road at Lords Moor Lane Level Crossing, Strensall (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2330hrs on Monday, 10 February 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Flaxton Road, York Road, The Village.
(3) MAIN STREET, ELVINGTON
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Main Street, Elvington between the projected south-western boundary of Derwent House and a location 136 metres east of said projected boundary (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1000hrs on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 and ending at 1430hrs on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, Elvington Lane, Hull Road (A1079).
(4) BEDERN, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bedern, York between its junction with Goodramgate and a location 15 metres south-east of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 and ending at 2200hrs on Thursday, 13 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Goodramgate, Aldwark, St Andrewgate.
(5) USHER LANE, HAXBY
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Usher Lane, Haxby between its junctions with Whitelands Cottages and Oaken Grove (closed road) during the period when highway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Crossmoor Lane, Moor Lane, The Village.
(6) CHARLTON STREET, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Charlton Street, York between its junctions with Bishopthorpe Road and Fenwick Street (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 18 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for residents will be maintained at all times.
(7) TANNER ROW, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Tanner Row, York between its junction with George Hudson Street and a location 50 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2100hrs on Thursday, 13 February 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 14 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Station Road, Queen Street, Micklegate, George Hudson Street.
(8) RAWCLIFFE LANE & RAWCLIFFE DRIVE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Rawcliffe Lane & Rawcliffe Drive, York (i) on Rawcliffe Lane between its junction with Fairway and the projected north-western boundary of Property No. 34 and (ii) on Rawcliffe Drive between its junction with Rawcliffe Lane and a location 30 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Saturday, 15 February 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Tuesday, 18 February 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Water Lane, Shipton Road, Howard Drive, Eastholme Drive.
(9) CLIFTON PLACE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from turning right from Clifton Place, York into Clifton (A19) (restricted manoeuvre) during the period when gas network works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0700hrs on Monday, 17 February 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 24 March 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Clifton, Water Lane, Brompton Road, Rawcliffe Lane.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by ongoing works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
