What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Chappel Road, Chappel)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chappel Road, Chappel in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Oak Road for a distance of approximately 405m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP021EH2371506 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via The Street, Colchester Road, Teyburn Hill, Colchester Road, Coleford Hill, Lower Holt Street, Upper Holt Street, Coggeshall Road, Colne Road, A120, Great Tey Road, Brook Road, Chappel Road, Swan Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Chitts Hill, Colchester/West Bergholt)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chitts Hill, Colchester/West Bergholt in the City of Colchester, from the junction with Cooks Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north-westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd March 2025 for 1 night (00:30-07:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL7011N-01-49-211124/ KL7011N-1-49-211124A – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while rail bridge works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Chitts Hill, Argents Lane, Spring Lane, Halstead Road, Halstead Road Roundabout, Halstead Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Coast Road, West Mersea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Coast Road, West Mersea in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 110m north west of its junction with The Lane, to a point approximately 110m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411S4001WFSW78L – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Coast Road, High Street, High Street North, First North, The Chase and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Elwin Road, Tiptree)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Elwin Road, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 100m north east of its junction with New Road for a distance of approximately 10m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310778518 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while supply replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

No alternative route is available (with access only into Elwin Road).

The Order will come into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Street, Great Tey)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Street, Great Tey in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Newbarn Road for a distance of approximately 65m in an easterly direction then from its junction with Coggeshall Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a south easterly direction then from a point approximately 45m south east of its junction with Coggeshall Road for a distance of approximately 80m in a south easterly direction then from a point approximately 30m south east of its junction with Greenfield Drive for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction (to be completed in phases). The closures are scheduled to commence on 3rd March 2025 for 40 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP00312001790 – Centaur Construction LTD). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage installation works are undertaken by Centaur Construction LTD.

An alternative route is available via Newbarn Road, Earls Colne Road, Chappel Road and New Road (with access only into The Street).

The Order will come into effect on 13th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order (No.2) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Maldon & City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per the schedule for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Maldon District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 13th February 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the exact dates via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the City of Colchester as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. To temporarily suspend the bus way in that length of Maldon Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester from its junction with Beaconsfield Avenue northwards to its junction with Southway as detailed in "The Colchester Borough (Various Roads, Colchester) (Reserved Bus Lane) Order 2000". All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

  2. The Order came into effect on 31st January 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Flories Road, Great Tey)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Flories Road, Great Tey in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Baldwin Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th February 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310751521 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Earls Colne Road, Newbarn Road and vice versa (with access only into Burnthouse Road, Flories Road, Brook House Road).

The Order came into effect on 30th January 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Introduction of Banned Right Hand Turn) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a ‘no right hand turn’ restriction from Headgate, Colchester into St Johns Street, Colchester. The restriction is scheduled to commence on 18th February 2025 for 1 night (22:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (AD0136168446 – Anglian Water).
