Wiltshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: A) Chalk Hill, Shrewton; from its junction with Amesbury Road to its junction with B3083 to enable Wessex Internet to carry out 130m duct in footway/carriageway to provide internet. Alternative route via B3083 – Amesbury Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 March 2025 and the closure will be required until 14 March 2025. B) C61 (Part), Tisbury; from its junction with Jobbers Lane to its property known as Dairy Cottage to enable BT to carry out pole and associated works. Alternative route via C61 (unaffected length) – C314 – A30 – C25 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 March 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. C) C256 (Part), Ludgershall and Chute; from its junction with Biddesden Lane to its junction with Hatchet Hill to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out verge maintenance works to stabilise and improve the roadside verges following years of overrunning having taken place. Works will also involve other highway remedial works where necessary. Alternative route via Hatchet Hill – Lodge Lane – New House Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 March 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 07:30 and 17:00 for 5 days. D) Station Road (Part), Great Wishford; from its junction with South Street for approximately 500m in a southerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge inspection and associated works. Alternative route via Station Road (unaffected length) – Water Ditchampton – West Street – Silver Street – Minster Street – A36 – West Street – South Street and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 March 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 21:00 and 05:00 for 1 night. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic: E) Tanners Lane, Shrewton; from its junction with A360 to its junction with The Hollow to enable Wessex Internet to carry out lay duct and build chambers for the Wessex Internet. Alternative route via The Hollow – B3086 – A360 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 February 2025 and the closure will be required until 07 March 2025. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to temporarily introduce a 40mph speed restriction on the following length of road: Stockport Road (Part), Amesbury; from a point approximately 45m south of its junction with Allington Way for a distance of approximately 400m in a southerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out construction of a new bellmouth entrance to Boscombe down air base. The speed restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This speed limit restriction will come into operation on 03 March 2025 and will be required until 03 December 2025. It is anticipated that the work will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, VARIOUS PARISHES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (No.53) 2024 (Ref TTRO 10087)

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily, to all vehicles, the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this notice. The Order which previously came into operation on 04 November 2024 will now recommence on 10 February 2025. It is required to enable carriageway patching, surface dressing and associated maintenance works. The Order has a maximum duration of 18 months. It is anticipated that advance signs will be deployed 2 weeks prior to the closure dates. Access will be maintained for residents where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The closures are anticipated to take place between 10 February 2025 and 17 March 2025. Schedule 1. C32 (Part), Bulford and Amesbury; from its junction with A3028 to its junction with Porton Road. 7. The Packway (Part), Shrewton and Durrington; from its junction with B3086 to its junction with Ross Road. 8. Marina Crescent, Durrington; from its junction with Stonehenge Road to its junction with Marina Close. 9. Marina Close, Durrington; from its junction with Marina Crescent for its entire length. 10. C295 (Part), Donhead St Mary; from its junction with A30 to its junction with B3081. 11. London Road (Part), Amesbury; from its junction with A345 to its junction with Beacon Close. 12. Green Lane, Sedgehill and Semley; from its junction with C299 to its junction with C300. 13. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users: Footpath 51 (Part), Donhead St Mary; from a point approximately 270m southeast of its junction with Footpath 54, Donhead St Mary for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction to enable closure for health and safety due to a failing brick masonry arch bridge. Alternative route via existing permissive route north to the track and around the pond to rejoin Footpath 51, Donhead St Mary. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order which was due to expire on 12 February 2025 will now continue in force until 12 August 2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is earliest. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months.
