What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
The Order commences 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 04:00hrs on 3 and 4 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C26 Eastbourne Road, Uckfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Eastbourne Road – from the junction with A22 Eastbourne Road to the junction with U7403 High Cross.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C26 Eastbourne Road – C58 Lewes Road – A22 Uckfield bypass, Eastbourne Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 1 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 9 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C207 Chalvington Road, Chalvington) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Chalvington Road – from the junction with C331 Church Lane to the junction with U7043 Sheepcote Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C207 Poundfield Road – C347 Lower Wick Street – C39 Wick Street, High Barn Road, Cold Harbour Road – C690 Camberlot Road – A22 The Dicker, Golden Cross – C207 Chalvington Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 4 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 09:00hrs to 15:00hrs between 4 and 6 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C206 North Hall Lane, Fletching)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
North Hall Lane – from the junction with A275 Sheffield Park to Archers Cottage.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C206 North Hall Lane, High Street, Church Street, Ruston Bridge Road – A272 Batts Bridge Road, Goldbridge Road, The Green, High Street, Western Road, Station Road – A275 East Grinstead Road, Sheffield Park and vice versa.
The Order commences 5 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 5 and 6 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C110 Station Road, Plumpton Green) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road; Temporary Road Closure
Station Road – from the junction with C6 South Road to the junction with U5995 Woodgate Meadow.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C6 South Road – C323 Honeypot Lane, Mill Lane – A275 South Road, Resting Oak Hill, Cooksbridge Road – B2116 Ditchling Road – C110 Plumpton Lane, Station Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 21:30hrs to 06:00hrs between 3 and 5 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C39 Whiteway, Alfriston) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Whiteway – from the junction with P8997 Cuckmere Road to the junction with U7728 Weavers Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C39 High Street, Waterloo Square, North Street – C120 Lullington Road, The Street, Litlington Road – A259 Eastbourne Road – C39 Alfriston Road, Whiteway and vice versa.
The Order commenced 14 November 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 04:00hrs between 4 and 6 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and
Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road:
Temporary Road Closure
Budletts Lane – from the junction with U7118 Five Ash Down to the junction with A272 London Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7118 Five Ash Down – A26 Mill Pond Road – A272 London Road and vice versa.
The road closure is anticipated to be in place between 14 July and 5 September 2025.
The Order will also temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:
Temporary 30 mph Speed Limits
Maresfield Bypass – from A22 Batts Bridge roundabout to A22 Blackdown roundabout.
The speed restriction is anticipated to be in place between 3 February and 25 April 2025.
Uckfield Bypass – from the junction with Mill Pond Depot to A22 Blackdown roundabout.
The speed restriction is anticipated to be in place from 19:30hrs to 05:00hrs between 7 May and 4 July 2025.
Uckfield Bypass – from A22 Copwood roundabout to A22 Blackdown roundabout.
The speed restriction is anticipated to be in place from 19:30hrs to 05:00hrs between 7 May and 4 July 2025.
London Road – from A26 Budletts roundabout to the junction with A272 Budletts Lane.
The speed restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 and 18 July 2025.
London Road – from A26 Budletts roundabout for a distance of 30 metres in a north westerly direction.
The speed restriction is anticipated to be in place between 23 June and 11 July 2025.
The Order commences 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the restrictions will be in place as detailed above.

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (PUBLIC RESTRICTED
BYWAY LONG MAN 45, PUBLIC BRIDLEWAYS LONG MAN 46A,

DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025
The above Order, made on 24 January 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public restricted byway and two public bridleways as follows:
A public restricted byway with an arbitrary centreline route as shown on the Order Plan between points A-B. Commencing from a point on Folkington Lane at the edge of the adopted public Highway extent, southwest of By Park Cottage at point A at TQ 5658 0404 with a width of 7 metres. Continuing in an east south-easterly direction for 25 metres along a lane to a point south-east of By Park Cottage at TQ 5661 0403 with a width of 3 metres.
From here the restricted byway continues with a width of 3 metres in a south-easterly direction for 60 metres on a gradual curve north-west of Old Rectory Cottage to a point at TQ 5665 0399. The restricted byway continues with a width of 3 metres in a south south-easterly direction for 40 metres on a gradual curve south of Old Rectory Cottage until it reaches a south-west bend in the lane, north of Kelsons, where the restricted byway terminates at point B at TQ 5667 0396. The width at B is 3 metres.
A public bridleway with an arbitrary centreline route as shown on the Order Plan between points B-C-D with a width of 3 metres throughout. Commencing from a point where public restricted byway Long Man 45 terminates north of Kelsons, at point B at TQ 5667 0396. Continuing in a south-westerly direction for 145 metres along a lane until it reaches a point in front of the entrance drive of Badgers Bank at TQ 5658 0384. The bridleway continues in a southerly direction for 10 metres until it reaches a point at TQ 5658 0383. From here, the bridleway continues in a south south-westerly direction for 30 metres uphill, to the east of Badgers Bank, until it reaches a point at TQ 5657 0380. The bridleway continues in a south-westerly direction for 48 metres uphill until it reaches a point at TQ 5655 0376. The bridleway continues in a south south-westerly direction again for 25 metres uphill until it reaches the junction of public footpath Long Man 41 at point C at TQ 5654 0374. From point C the bridleway continues in a south south-westerly direction for 20 metres uphill until it terminates at point D at TQ 5654 0372.
The total length of the public restricted byway to be added is 125 metres.
The total length of the public bridleways to be added is 278 metres.

If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.
