Southend-On-Sea, Temporary Road Closures & Parking Restrictions Due To Gas Works

What is happening?

SOUTHEND-ON-SEA CITY COUNCIL

(SOUTHCHURCH AVENUE, HIGH STREET, THE GOSLINGS, GUNNERS ROAD, BLACKGATE ROAD, SERVICE ROAD FOR BLACKGATE ROAD, SHOEBURYNESS, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC, PARKING, STOPPING, WAITING, LOADING AND UNLOADING) ORDER 2025 ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14(1)

Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council intends, no less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Effect of the order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:-

1. Entering and exiting Southchurch Avenue at its junction with High Street

2. Entering and exiting Gunners Road at its junction with Blackgate Road

3. Entering and exiting Service Road for Blackgate Road at its junction with Blackgate Road.

4. Parking, stopping, waiting, loading and unloading on High Street from outside No 101 & No 108 to its junction with Elm Road

5. Parking, stopping, waiting, loading and unloading on Gunners Road from outside No 29 & No 24 to its junction with Blackgate Road

6. Parking, stopping, waiting, loading and unloading on The Goslings from its junction with the High Street to outside and opposite No 9 The Goslings.

PLEASE NOTE THESE WILL BE COMPLETED IN PHASES

The closure & suspensions are scheduled to commence from 08:00 on the 12th of February 2025 till 31st March 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The alternative routes for local traffic will be posted on site.

The Order will come into effect on 12th February 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst Gas main replacement works takes place.

Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.

The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the TRAFFIC SIGNS REGULATIONS AND GENERAL DIRECTIONS

Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004
