What is happening?

THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

(CASTLE RISING, A148 GRIMSTON ROAD)

PROPOSED TRAFFIC ORDERS AND BUS STOP CLEARWAY NOTICE 2025

The Norfolk County Council propose to make the following orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and give the following notices:

The Norfolk County Council (Castle Rising, A148 Grimston Road) (Bus, Taxi and Cycle Lane) Order 2025

The effect of this Order would be to prohibit any vehicle other than buses, taxis, and cycles to enter, wait, or proceed along the lengths of the:

A148 Grimston Road (North Side)

  • From a point 186 metres west of the centreline of its junction with Lodge Lane to a point 83.5 metres east of the centreline of its junction with Lodge Lane.

The Norfolk County Council (Castle Rising, A148 Grimston Road) Bus Stop Clearway Notice 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Norfolk County Council propose to introduce bus stop clearways as defined in Schedule 7 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016, and the associated No Waiting at Any Time restrictions for any vehicles, except buses at the following locations:

A148 Grimston Road (North Side)

  • From a point 22.5 metres east of the centreline of its junction with Lodge Lane, eastwards for a distance of 19 metres.

A148 Grimston Road (South Side)

  • From a point 17 metres east of the centreline of its junction with Lodge Lane, eastwards for a distance of 60 metres.

The Bus Stop Clearways are designed to improve the safety of passengers getting on and off the bus.

The Norfolk County Council (Castle Rising, A148 Grimston Road, Lodge Lane) (Restriction of Right Turn) Order 2025

The effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from making a right turn which are proceeding along the:

Lodge Lane (southbound)

  • into the A148 Grimston Road.

The private road/access located at a point 52 metres east of the centreline of the Lodge Lane Junction (southbound)

  • into the A148 Grimston Road.

A148 Grimston (westbound)

  • into the Lodge Lane.

1. In respect of the proposed Orders, copies of the draft Orders, plans, and Statement of Reasons for making the Orders.

2. In respect of the bus stop clearway notice, plans for the proposals. Copies may also be available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Norwich and at the offices of Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council, King’s Court, Chapel St, King’s Lynn PE30 1EX. However, if office staffing levels have been reduced, a viewing online would be recommended.

Any objections and representations relating to the proposed Orders must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Comments may also be made in relation to the bus stop clearway notice. All correspondence must be received at the offices of nplaw, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, marked for the attention of Mr J Hulse by no later than 25th February 2025.
