Norwich – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
BORROWDALE DRIVE – from 20m west of its junction with Finwood Close for 40m westwards to facilitate new gas connection works from 10th to 12th February 2025 (may continue until 26th March 2025). Alternative route is via: Borrowdale Drive, A1402 Heartsease Lane, B1140 Plumstead Road, Hilary Avenue.
CASTLE MEADOW – from 10m south of its junction with Arcade Street to 10m north of its junction with Davey Place to facilitate work to rebuild telecoms chamber from 14th to 21st February 2025 (may continue until the 4th April 2025). Alternative route is via: Northbound – Farmers Avenue, Cattle Market Street and Market Avenue. Southbound – Prince of Wales Road, St Vedast Street, Rose Lane, Cattle Market Street and Farmers Avenue.
KETT’S HILL –
1) Kett’s Hill from 30m east of its junction with Barrack Street to its junction with Plumstead Road
2) Plumstead Road from its junction with Kett’s Hill to its junction with Valleyside Road to facilitate sewer repair works from 20:00 on the 13th February to 06:00 on the 14th February 2025 (may continue until 8th March 2025). Alternative route is via: Westbound – Saint Williams Way, Ring Road, Yarmouth Road, Thorpe Road, Carrow Road, Canary Way, Koblenz Avenue, Riverside Road, Bishop Bridge Road. Eastbound – Bishop Bridge Road, Riverside Road, Thorpe Road, Yarmouth Road, Ring Road and Saint Williams Way (Norwich, Thorpe St. Andrew).
RUPERT STREET – from 50m south of its junction with York Street for 140m south-westwards to facilitate lead water main replacement works from 10th February to 14th March 2025 (may continue until 1st September 2025). Alternative route is via: York Street, Leicester Street, Gloucester Street.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
CHANTRY ROAD (southbound) – from 60m southeast of its junction with Chapelfield East for 30m southeastwards to facilitate surveying works. Traffic to be shared under two-way lights from 5th to 9th February 2025.
PEMBROKE ROAD – from its junction with Denbigh Road for 50m southwards to facilitate new electrical connection works from 3rd to 7th February 2025 (may continue until 21st March 2025). Alternative route is via: Parker Road, Park Lane, Denbigh Road.
STONE ROAD – from 75m southwest of its junction with Press Lane to its junction with A1067 Drayton Road to facilitate fire hydrant replacement works from 5th to 7th February 2025 (may continue until the 21st March 2025). Alternative route is via: A1067 Drayton Road, Junction Road, A1402 Aylsham Road, Press Lane.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). The event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of completion of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highways or 6 months for non-vehicular highway.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
