What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:

  1. that length of Brooksfield, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with The Paddocks clockwise to its junction with Poplars, a distance of approximately 454m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  2. that length of Fern Grove, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Monks Rise south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 183m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  3. that length of Rowans, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with the Blythway/Haldens roundabout north eastwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Lumbards, a distance of approximately 652m.

    An alternative route will be via Haldens, Sloansway and Lumbards.

  4. that length of Salmon Close, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Rowans north eastwards for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  5. that length of West End Lane, Essendon from its junction with B158 Essendon Hill north westwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Wild Hill, a distance of approximately 3108m.

    An alternative route will be via B158 (Essendon Hill/High Road/Cum Cum Hill) and Wild Hill.

  6. that length of Westcott, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Chedburgh north westwards and south westwards for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  7. that length of Wheatbarn, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Brooksfield south eastwards for its entire length.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF B656 HIGH STREET, CODICOTE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B656 High Street, Codicote from its junction with Cowards Lane south eastwards to its northernmost junction with Rabley Heath Road, a distance of approximately 84m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via B656 (Codicote Road/Link Road/Church Street), B197 (Great North Road/Mardley Hill/London Road/Stevenage Road/London Road), A602 Six Hills Way, A1155 (St Georges Way/Fairlands Way), A602 (Lytton Way/Hitchin Road/Wymondley Bypass/Stevenage Road) and B656 (London Road/Hitchin Road/High Street) or via B656 (High Street/Hitchin Road/London Road), A602 (Stevenage Road/Wymondley Bypass/Hitchin Road/Lytton Way/James Way/Lytton Way), A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way), A602 Six Hills Way, B197 (London Road/Stevenage Road/London Road/Mardley Hill/Great North Road) and B656 (Church Street/Link Road/Codicote Road).

The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 17 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF STATION ROAD, HATFIELD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Station Road, Hatfield from its junction with Dixons Hill Road north eastwards, a distance of approximately 80m (“the Road”).

The Order is needed because Affinity Water works are proposed to be executed near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN DATCHWORTH, WELWYN, HATFIELD, WELWYN GARDEN CITY AND POTTERS BAR) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:

  1. That length of Coltsfoot Lane, Datchworth from its junction with Coltsfoot Lane north eastwards for a distance of approximately 193m.

    An alternative route will be via White Horse Lane, Mardleybury Road, Datchworth Green, Bramfield Road and Coltsfoot Lane.

  2. That length of White Horse Lane, Welwyn from its junction with Robbery Bottom Lane south eastwards to the access road leading to "Wendover's Farm", a distance of approximately 716m.

    An alternative route will be via White Horse Lane, Mardleybury Road, Datchworth Green, Bramfield Road and Burnham Green Road.

  3. That length of Hatfield Avenue, Hatfield from its junction with the A1057 St Albans Road West roundabout north westwards to its junction with the Bishops Square roundabout, a distance of approximately 130m.

    An alternative route will be via A1057 St Albans Road West, A1001 Comet Way, Hatfield Avenue and Mosquito Way.

  4. That length of Holwell Hyde, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Cole Green Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 53m.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  5. That length of The Walk, Potters Bar from its junction with Darkes Lane south eastwards to its junction with the Stratford Gate roundabout, a distance of approximately 125m.

    An alternative route will be via Darkes Lane, Billy Lows Lane, A1000 (Hatfield Road/High Street) and The Walk.

  6. That length of Stratford Gate, Potters Bar from its junction with The Walk roundabout north eastwards to its junction with Ladbrooke Drive, a distance of approximately 107m.

    An alternative route will be via The Walk, Darkes Lane, Bing Drive and Stratford Gate.

  7. The layby situated on the east side of A1000 High Street, Potters Bar from its northernmost junction with A1000 High Street south eastwards and south westwards to its southernmost junction with A1000 High Street, a distance of approximately 65m.

    An alternative route will be via A1000 High Street.

  8. That length of Santers Lane, Potters Bar from its junction with Baker Street north westwards to its junction with Dugdale Hill Lane, a distance of approximately 516m.

    An alternative route will be via Baker Street, Sawyers Lane and Dugdale Hill Lane.

    9. That length of Dugdale Hill Lane, Potters Bar from its junction with Wellesley Crescent south westwards for a distance of approximately 253m.

    An alternative route will be via Dugdale Hill Lane, Elmfield Road, Baker Street, Sawyers Lane and Dugdale Hill Lane.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 3 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
