Blackpool: Charles Street & Grosvenor Street - Temporary Prohibition of Traffic
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF BLACKPOOL
(MULTIVERSITY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Blackpool Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers to demolish properties for the Multiversity project. The effect of the Order will be to:
a) Prohibit any vehicle from entering or proceeding in a north easterly direction along the length of Charles Street from its junction with the western boundary of 6 Charles Street and its junction with Grosvenor Street.
b) Prohibit any vehicle from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of the unnamed gated alleyway to the rear of 5 George Street to its gated junction with Grosvenor Street.
c) Prohibit any vehicle from entering or proceeding in any direction along the length of the length of the unnamed gated alleyway to the rear of 11 Charles Street to its gated junction with Grosvenor Street.
d) Temporarily suspend the resident parking bay along the south side of George Street between its junction with the western boundary of 5 George Street to its junction with the eastern boundary of 27 George Street.
Note: Access is to be maintained for properties 5-13 George Street and rear 6-16 Milbourne Street.
All diversion routes will be clearly signed and maintained on site. Pedestrian access to premises shall be maintained at all times.
The proposed Order will commence on 10th February 2025 and continue in force for eighteen months or until the sooner completion of the aforesaid works. It is expected that the works will take 18 weeks.
