What is happening?

U66 NEW HAGGERSTON JUNCTION
TO HAGGERSTON JUNCTION LOWICK
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the U66 New Haggerston Junction to Haggerston Junction Lowick from its junction with the C17 heading in an easterly direction for a length of 800 metres in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 12th February 2025 until the 28th April 2025.
It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 12th February 2025 until the 14th March 2025 between the hours of 08:00 until 18:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 28th April 2025.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being C17, A1 and vice-versa and should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by National Highways to construct a new weather station. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
