PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC AND
INTRODUCTION OF 40MH AND 10MPH SPEED LIMITS
TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 AS AMENDED BY THE ROAD
TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991

NOTICE is hereby given that the City of Doncaster Council intend, not less than
seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary
Restrictions) Act 1991 because works are being or proposed to be executed on or
near the roads and the effect will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in those
lengths of the A638 Wakefield Road at Hampole/Adwick Le Street in the City of
Doncaster District and also prohibit any vehicle from exceeding the 40mph and
10mph speed limits as described in the Schedule to this notice on the dates and
times referred to in the said Schedule.
Reason for closure: To ensure the safety of the public and the workforce whilst works
for the replacement of bridge joints and bridge deck resurfacing are undertaken.
NOTICE is also given that the alternative route for vehicles affected by the Order is
as described in the Schedule this notice.

The Proposed Order will continue in force up to and including the 31st day of March
2025 or until the works which it is proposed to carry out in or near the said roads
have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
SCHEDULE
Locations
1) Close Wakefield Road, Hampole into Wakefield Road, Adwick le Street in a south
easterly direction from its junction with the A1M Northbound entry and exit to the
A638 to its junction with Redhouse Roundabout
2) Close Wakefield Road, Adwick le Street into Wakefield Road, Hampole in a north
westerly direction from its junction with Redhouse Roundabout to its junction with the
A1M Northbound entry and exit to the A638
3) A638 Wakefield Road Southbound direction
a. Introduce a 40 mph temporary speed limit at a point 81m west of the junction the
A1M northbound entry and exit to the A638 in a south easterly direction for a
distance of 500m
b. Introduce a 10 mph temporary speed limit for the purposes of undertaking Convoy
operations at a point 120m east of the junction the A1M northbound entry and exit to
the A638 in a south easterly direction for a distance of 300m
4) A638 Wakefield Road Northbound direction
c. Introduce a 40 mph temporary speed limit at the junction with Redhouse
roundabout in a north westerly direction for a distance of 460 metres.
d. Introduce a 10 mph temporary speed limit for the purposes of undertaking Convoy
operations from a point 185m north west of Redhouse Roundabout in a north
westerly direction for a distance of 275m.
Dates and Times
20:00hrs 4th February 2025 until 05:00hrs 18th February 2025
Convoy works to take place between 20:00hrs and 05:00hrs only. Full closures to
take place between 22:00hrs and 05:00hrs only. These operations will not take
place on the same nights.
In the event of engineering difficulties and/or adverse weather conditions, the closure
may extend beyond this date although all closures to be completed by the 31st
March 2025.
Diversion Routes
1) A638 Wakefield Road to Field Lane roundabout and return
2) A1 Northbound to junction 39 and return
3) A1(M) Southbound to junction 37 and return
