Westminster Avenue - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(WESTMINSTER ROAD, WESTMINSTER AVENUE, HEYSHAM MORECAMBE, LANCASTER CITY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of roads;
I. Westminster Road, Heysham from its junction with Fairfield Road to its junction with Alexandra Road.
II. Westminster Road, Morecambe from its junction with Alexandra Road to its junction with Westminster Avenue.
III. Westminster Avenue from its junction with Westminster Road to its junction with Balmoral Road.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily between 0800 hours and 1600 hours from Friday 31st January 2025 until Thursday 6th February 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained. Access for Emergency Service Vehicles will be maintained if safe passage permits.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Fairfield Road – Balmoral Road – and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway surface dressing patching works to be carried out.
