Western Drive - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, LEYLAND, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the South Ribble Borough:-
i. Western Drive, Leyland in its entirety.
ii. Cowling Lane, Leyland from Leyland Lane, Leyland to Cowling Lane, Leyland.
iii. Mellor Road, Leyland in its entirety.
iv. Hoghton Road, Leyland from Western Drive, Leyland to Willow Tree Crescent, Leyland.
v. Kirkham Close, Leyland in its entirety.
vi. Jackson Road, Leyland in its entirety
vii. Fairhaven Road, Leyland in its entirety.
viii. Grange Road, Leyland in its entirety.
ix. Inskip Road, Leyland in its entirety.
x. Dever Avenue, Leyland in its entirety.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily between 0800 hours and 1600 hours from Monday 13th January 2025 until Tuesday 21st January 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures on Western Drive, Leyland, Cowling Lane, Leyland, Mellor Road, Leyland, Hoghton Road, Leyland, Jackson Road, Leyland, Fairhaven Road, Leyland, Grange Road, Leyland and Inskip Road, Leyland will be signed locally.
6. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures on Dever Avenue, Leyland and Kirkham Close, Leyland will not be possible owing to the fact that both Dever Avenue, Leyland and Kirkham Close, Leyland are no through roads.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow carriageway surface dressing works to be carried out by Lancashire County Council.
