What is happening?

HIGHWAYS – in the city of Canterbury

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, DISTRICT OF CANTERBURY) (WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2023 (AMENDMENT NO 10) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL propose to make the above Order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 3(2), 4(1) and (2), 32(1), 35(1), 45,
46, 49 and 53 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.

The effect of the Order is to amend the Kent County Council (Various Roads, District of Canterbury) (Waiting restrictions and Street Parking Places)
(Consolidation) Order 2023 by introducing new or varying existing parking and waiting restrictions on the following lengths of road in the Canterbury district:

Canterbury

Cambridge Way - Double yellow lines on the bend

Canterbury Lane - Move motorcycle parking to the side of the road and change motorcycle parking area to disabled parking bays, to reduce obstruction of the pedestrian walkway.

Ethelbert Road - Loading ban outside the hospital entrance to allow buses to turn

Kent Avenue - Pavement and verge parking ban

Manwood Avenue - Single yellow lines to prohibit daytime parking

New Ruttington Lane - Double yellow lines near the junction with Military Road to allow improvement of a cycle route

Oxford Road - Change single yellow line to double yellow line

Pilgrims Way - Extend School Keep Clear markings to allow relocation of the school crossing patrol and change yellow line restriction in Dryden Close

Reed Avenue and Elliot Close - Double yellow lines at the junction to keep the junction clear.

Starle Close - Change a residents’ parking bay to a disabled bay

Tenterden Drive - Pavement parking ban

Westgate Court Avenue - Change part of residents’ parking bay to disabled bays

Westgate Towers - Loading ban

Herne Bay

Anemone Way - Double yellow lines near the junction with Canterbury Road

Barley Close - Shorten double yellow lines

Bishopstone Lane and Manor Close - Double yellow lines at the junction

Cavendish Road - Pavement parking ban

Central Parade - More disabled bays

Cobblers Bridge Road and Cross Street - Pavement and verge parking ban and double yellow lines

Greenhill Road - Double yellow lines to control parking near the school entrance

Hawe Farm Way and Broomfield Road - Double yellow lines to keep the junction clear

High Street - Changes to make it easier for lorries to use the loading bay

High Street - Make loading ban apply at all times

Margate Road and The Meadows - Double yellow lines at the junction to protect visibility

Windmill Road and Pigeon Lane - Double yellow lines to keep the junctions clear

Windsor Gardens - Pavement Parking Ban

Rural

Blackthorn Road, Acacia Drive and The Avenue, Hersden - Extend double yellow lines at various junctions

Chestnut Drive, Sturry - Double yellow lines outside Nos 16 to 50 to reduce obstructive parking

Link Road and Meadow Road, Sturry - Double yellow lines to keep the junction clear

Shalmsford Court, Chartham - Extend double yellow lines

The Avenue and Sutton Road, Hersden - Double yellow lines at the junction to protect visibility

Whitstable

Chestfield Road - Double yellow lines to keep the playing field entrance clear

Clover Rise and Hillside Road - Double yellow lines at the junction to keep the junction clear

Daniels Court - Remove yellow lines on the northern side of Daniels Court to leave more parking space for residents

Foxgrove Road - Double yellow lines to reduce traffic congestion

Joy Lane opposite Cundishall Close - Double yellow lines to reduce traffic congestion

Meteor Avenue - Double yellow lines at the junction with Sunray Avenue

Pierpoint Road and Windmill Road - Pavement and verge parking ban

Polo Way - Changes to the yellow lines

Reeves Way - Extend double yellow lines on the western side to reduce traffic congestion and parking by lorries

Richmond Road - Double yellow lines to protect the emergency exit from Grasmere Gardens, and a pavement parking ban

St John’s Road Double yellow lines in St John’s Road at the junction with Edgar Close

Sandpiper Road - Pavement Parking Ban

South Street - Double yellow lines to improve visibility on the bend north of Millstrood Road

Swalecliffe Court Drive and Emmerson Gardens - Double yellow lines at the junction to prevent obstruction of refuse collections

Tankerton Road - Make first parking bay east of the roundabout a disabled bay.

Thanet Way service road - Extend double yellow lines to allow pedestrians to cross

Tower Parade - Remove time limit overnight in parking bay

Valkyrie Avenue - Double yellow lines to keep the junctions clear

Virginia Road - Double yellow lines on the bend

Wauchope Road area - Double yellow lines to keep the junctions clear

Full details are contained in the draft order which, together with a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the order, maps showing the locations and a copy of the orders which will be amended by the proposed
