TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
BER STREET
- Ber Street from its junction with Queens Road to its junction with Foulgers Opening and
- City Road at its junction with Queens Road and
- Queens Road at its junction with City Road to facilitate Norfolk County Council water fitting works.
The road 1) will be temporarily closed, and traffic over the road 2) shall be restricted from turning right on to Queens Road, and traffic over the road 3) shall be restricted from turning right on to City Road from 27th to 29th January 2025 (may continue until 12th March 2025).
Alternative route is via:
Ber Street – Queens Road and Finkelgate.
City Road – Queens Road, Queens Road/St Stephens Street Roundabout and Queens Road.
Queens Road – Queens Road, Bracondale, Martineau Lane Roundabout, Martineau Lane, Barrett Road, Long John Hill and City Road.
DEREHAM ROAD
Dereham Road (westbound only) from its junction with Grapes Hill to its junction with Golding Place to facilitate Norfolk County Council infrastructure works relating to TCF scheme from 27th January to 9th February 2025 (may continue until 23rd March 2025).
Alternative route is via:
Grapes Hill, Chapel Field Road, St Stephens Road, Newmarket Road, Colman Road, Farrow Road, Guardian Road and Dereham Road.
SPELMAN ROAD
From its junction with Henley Road to its junction with Highland Avenue to facilitate connection of a new water supply from 27th to 29th January 2025 (may continue until 12th March 2025).
Alternative route is via:
Spelman Road, Grapes Road, Christchurch Road, Highland Avenue.
TUCKSWOOD LANE
- Tuckswood Lane from its junction with A140 Ipswich Road for 30m south eastwards and
- Eaton Road from its junction with A140 Ipswich Road for 30m north westwards to facilitate gas main replacement works from 27th January to 7th February 2025 (may continue until 21st March 2025).
Alternative route is via:
Tuckswood Lane - A140 Ipswich Road, Locksley Road, Hall Road, Tuckswood Lane.
Eaton Road - A140 Ipswich Road, Lyhart Road, Ipswich Road, Welsford Road, Eaton Road.
WARWICK STREET
From its junction with Portersfield Road to its junction with Dover Street to facilitate replacement of a lead water main.
The road will be temporarily closed and traffic over the road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 27th January to 3rd March 2025 (may continue until 3rd September 2025).
Alternative route is via:
Dover Street, Unthank Road, Portland Street, Portersfield Road.
(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
DOVE STREET
From 37m north of its junction with Guildhall Hill to 25m south of its junction with Lobster Lane to facilitate refurbishment of large telecoms chamber works.
The footpath will be closed from 22nd January to 3rd February 2025 (may continue until 17th March 2025).
Alternative route is via:
Guildhall Hill, Exchange Street, Lobster Lane.
GUILDHALL HILL
From its junction with Lower Goat Lane to its junction with Dove Street to facilitate Norfolk County Council restoration works.
Traffic shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 18th January to 3rd May 2025 (may continue until 17th July 2025).
Alternative route is via:

GOLDEN DOG LANE & MAGDALEN STREET
Footpath between Golden Dog Lane and Magdalen Street from 1m west of its junction with Magdalen Street to 1m east of Golden Dog Lane to facilitate meter exchange works on the 21st January 2025 (may continue until 4th March 2025).
Alternative route is via: N/A.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.
Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required.
The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months for vehicular highway or 6 months for non-vehicular highway.
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
