St Michael’s Road - Prohibit Vehicular Traffic For New Water Connection Works

What is happening?

BOROUGH OF TORBAY
(ST MICHAEL’S ROAD, TORQUAY) (PART)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Torbay Council made the above Order on 15th January 2025 under the provisions of Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect will be to prohibit vehicular traffic in part of St Michael’s Road, from near junction for St Michaels Close to junction for Newton Road.

There are exemptions from the Order for vehicles used in emergency for police, fire or ambulance purposes, or used in connection with the works mentioned below, and for the conveyance of persons, goods, or merchandise to or from any premises situated on or adjacent to that length of road or to or from any other premises accessible for vehicles from, and only from, that length of road.

The Order has been made because new water connection works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the above length of road.

The alternative route available for traffic which will be affected by the Order is via Barton Road, Old Woods Hill, Newton Road; alternative Newton Road, Upton Road, Lymington Road, Pennys Hill, Cricketfield Road.

The Order will come into force on 24th February 2025 and will continue in force for a period not exceeding eighteen months or until the above works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. It is anticipated that such works will take approximately five days to complete.
