What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A595 WIGTON ROAD, CARLISLE)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable works to be carried for the construction of the footbridge over the A595 (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the A595 Wigton Road, Carlisle, from its junction with the A689 Newby West Roundabout, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 320m.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the A595 Wigton Road, B5307 Port Road, Newtown Road, Moorhouse Road, and the A689.

The Order will come into operation on 3 February 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required from Monday 3 February 2025 to Friday 7 February 2025 between 2000 and 0600 hours, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
