What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Commercial Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.27) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 4th February 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
COMMERCIAL ROAD

From its junction with Dugald Drummond Street to its junction with Station Street.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate bridge inspection works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 4th February 2025 to 5th February 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place from Tuesday to Wednesday 22:00 - 05:00.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Isambard Brunel Road, Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout, Winston Churchill Avenue, Bradford Junction Roundabout, Holbrook Road, Arundel Street Roundabout, Arundel Street, Station Street.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
