Market Street - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A6 SCOTLAND ROAD, B6254 MARKET STREET, CARNFORTH, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle, cycle or pedestrian to proceed over the following lengths footway;
I. Northside footway on B6254 Market Street from its junction with Walmsley Street to its junction with A6 Scotland Road.
II. West side footway A6 Scotland Road from its junction with B6254 Market Street for approximately 17 metres in a north westerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily between 0800 hours and 1600 hours from Monday 20th January 2025 until Friday 24th January 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. Access for pedestrians will be maintained via a Banksman on-site to offer safe escort to the opposite footway.
The temporary prohibition is necessary due to the risk of falling debris whilst a rope-access team perform roof repairs to Ratcliffe and Bibby Building.
