What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,  makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield. (TEMPORARY 50 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

For the safety of road users, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on part of A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield, from 12th February 2025, with estimated completion by 30th June 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield, westbound, will be imposed from 400m prior to the tunnel entrance to 200m after the tunnel exit, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The temporary mandatory 50 mph speed restriction on A299 Thanet Way, Herne Bay & Chestfield, eastbound, will be imposed from 400m prior to the tunnel entrance to 235m after the tunnel exit, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

 

Albert Street, Whitstable, CT5 1HX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow the footway reconstruction scheme to be undertaken, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Albert Street, Whitstable, from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 7th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.

Works Schedule

Phase 1

Albert Street will be closed between numbers 111 and 87, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via Stream Walk, Cromwell Road, Hamilton Road, Regent Street, Acton Road and vice versa.

Phase 2

Albert Street will be closed between number 85 and outside Kingdom Hall, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via St Peter’s Road, Woodlawn Street, Stream Walk and vice versa.

Phase 3

Albert Street will be closed between number 51 and in the vicinity of number 48 Harbour Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for through traffic westbound is via St Peter’s Road, Woodlawn Street and B2205 Harbour Street.

The alternative route for through traffic eastbound is via B2205 Harbour Street, Horsebridge Road, Sea Street, Bexley Street, Woodlawn Street and St Peter’s Road.

 

Albion Close, Herne, CT6 7HR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Albion Close, Herne from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 31st January 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Albion Lane, Herne, CT6 7HR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Albion Lane, Herne from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 31st January 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions of A291 Herne Street and Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A291 Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Curtis Wood Road, Ridgeway Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Albion Place, Canterbury, CT1 2EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Albion Place, Canterbury, from 16th February 2025 with estimated completion by 2nd March 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Broad Street and number 1A, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Brewery Lane, Bridge, CT4 5LD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Brewery Lane, Bridge, from 12th February 2025, with estimated completion by 20th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to number 86a High Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Brewery Lane, Mill Lane, Western Avenue, High Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Broomfield Road, Herne, CT6 7LY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broomfield Road, Herne, from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 28th January 2025, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 37 and 49, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broomfield Road, Mill Lane, Hunters Forstal Road, Margate Road, Broomfield Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Bushy Hill Road, Westbere, CT2 0HG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bushy Hill Road, Westbere, from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 30th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between number 6 and Golden Hills Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Westbere Lane, Bushy Hill Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Cockering Road, Chartham. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Cockering Road, Chartham, from 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 28th January 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the track leading to Horton Bungalows and The Old Parlour, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cockering Road, Milton Manor Road, A28 Ashford Road, Shalmsford Road, The Crescent and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1EU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable, from 30th January 2025, with estimated completion by 31st January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 98, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ivy Lane, Canterbury, CT1 1PE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ivy Lane, Canterbury, from 12th February 2025, with estimated completion by 26th February 2025, between the hours 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 4 and 51, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Old Dover Road, Canterbury, CT1 3BY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow highway improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Old Dover Road, Canterbury, from 20:00 hours on 12th February 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 13th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Nackington Road and B2050 New Dover Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Old Dover Road, B2050 New Dover Road, St George’s Place, A28 Upper Bridge Street, Old Dover Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

St Pauls Terrace, Canterbury, CT1 1PE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER FEBRUARY 2025

To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on St Pauls Terrace, Canterbury, from 11th February 2025, with estimated completion by 13th February 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Station Road, Chartham, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JANUARY 2025

To allow rail inspection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Chartham, from 23:00 hours on 27th January 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 28th January 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with The Green, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Station Road, The Green, Parish Road, Bolts Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Station Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works
