What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (C639 Ivyhouse Lane, Guestling)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Ivyhouse Lane – from the junction with C638 Rock Lane to the junction with C639 Chowns Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C638 Rock Lane – U3246 Red Lake Terrace – A259 Rye Road, Old London Road – B2093 Old London Road, The Ridge – C639 Chowns Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 3 and 14 February 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2182 Cooden Drive, Bexhill)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Cooden Drive – from the junction with B2182 Cooden Sea Road to the junction with U6739 South Cliff Avenue.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2182 Cooden Sea Road – A259(T) Little Common roundabout, Little Common Road – B2098 Sutherland Avenue, Collington Avenue, Terminus Road, Buckhurst Place – A269 Town Hall Square, Buckhurst Road, Upper Sea Road – B2182 Sea Road, Marina, Sackville roundabout, West Parade, Richmond Road, Cooden Drive and vice versa.

The Order commences 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 3 February 2025 and 1 February 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C412 Penhurst Lane, Brightling)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Penhurst Lane – from the junction with B2096 Darwell Hill to junction with U6117 Old Thatched Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2096 Darwell Hill, Kane Hythe Road – A271 Beechdown Wood, Kitchenham Road – U6203 Penhurst Lane – C412 Penhurst Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 20 January 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 January 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6021 Stubb Lane, Brede)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2024

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Stubb Lane – from the junction with B2089 Udimore Road to the junction with A28 Cackle Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2089 Udimore Road – A28 Cackle Street and vice versa.

The Order commenced 23 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 21 January 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C18 Hammer Hill, Ashburnham)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended,

which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Hammer Hill – from the junction with A271 Kitchenham Road to the junction with C18 Church Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C18 Church Road, Ponts Green, Herrings Road – C277 Bluekiln Road, Redpale, North Road – C16 White Horse Road, The Causeway, Victoria Road – A271 Windmill Hill Road, The Strait, Boreham Hill, Kitchenham Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 22 January 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 22 January 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2182 Cooden Sea Road & U6106 Herband Walk, Bexhill)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,

as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Cooden Sea Road – from the junction with U6543 The Gorses to the junction with B2182 Cooden Drive.

Diversion via B2182 Cooden Sea Road – U6527 Birkdale – U6534 Collington Avenue – U6536 Westcourt Drive – B2182 Cooden Drive and vice versa.

Herbrand Walk – from the junction with B2182 Cooden Sea Road for a distance of 15 metres.

Diversion via U6106 Herbrand Walk, Sluice Road, Sluice Lane – A27(T) Pevensey Haven roundabout – A259(T) Marsh Road, Barnhorn Road, Little Common roundabout – B2182 Cooden Sea Road and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 20 January 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 20 and 21 January 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A271 Kitchenham Road/Beechdown Wood & B2204 Tellis
Coppice, Ashburnham & Catsfield) (
Temporary 40 & 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2024

To allow ALS Civil Engineering Ltd to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 40 and 30 mph:

The Order commenced 9 September 2024 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 22 and 24 January 2025

NOTICE OF PUBLIC PATH DEED OF DEDICATION
PUBLIC FOOTPATH HASTINGS 427
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT 2001
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

Notice is hereby given that on 18 December 2024 East Sussex County Council dedicated a public footpath between public footpath Hastings 415 and Filsham Road across South Saxons Wetlands in the Borough of Hastings in the County of East Sussex.

The route dedicated will be known as ‘Hastings 427’ and is described as follows:

The public footpath commences at the edge of the adopted public highway extent over which public footpath Hastings 415 falls upon, at point A at TQ 7829 0907.

From point A the path continues in a generally east north-easterly direction on a hard gravel surface that rises slightly for 20 metres, until it reaches point B at TQ 7830 0907. From point B the path continues in a generally south-easterly direction over flat grass-covered ground for 100 metres until it reaches point C at TQ 7837 0900.

From point C the path continues in a generally south south-easterly direction over flat grass-covered ground for 30 metres until it reaches point D at TQ 7838 0898. From point D the path continues in a generally south-easterly direction down a slope over grass-covered ground for 18 metres until it reaches point E at TQ 7840 0896.

From point E the path continues in a generally east south-easterly direction in a cutting between bushes, trees and brambles for 10 metres until it reaches point F at TQ 7841 0895.

From point F the path continues in a generally south south-easterly direction over a flat concrete bridge that crosses over Hollington Stream for 12 metres until it reaches point G at TQ 7841 0894.

From point G the path continues in a generally south south-westerly direction over a hard gravel surface forming part of a vehicle access drive which rises slightly for 14 metres until it reaches at point just in front of a metal field gate marking the entrance of the access drive from Filsham Road at point H at TQ 7841 0893.

From point H the path continues in a generally south-easterly direction over part of the access drive for 3 metres until it reaches a point that forms a gap between the eastern gate post of the gate to the access drive and the southernmost concrete fence post of a fence running in a north north-easterly direction along the western side of the pavement on the western side of Filsham Road at point I at TQ 7841 0893. There is a short step up from the access drive surface through the gap onto the pavement of Filsham Road where the path ends on meeting the edge of the adopted highway extent of Filsham Road.

The public footpath will have the following widths:

A width of 3 metres at point A at TQ 7829 0907, with a varying width of between 1.5 metres and 2 metres between points A and B, and a width of 1.5 metres at point B at TQ 7830 0907.

A width of 1 metre between point B at TQ 7830 0907, and points C, D, E, and F at TQ 7841 0895.

A width of 4.5 metres between point F at TQ 7841 0895 and point G at TQ 7841 0894.

A width of 3.5 metres between point G at TQ 7841 0894 and point H at TQ 7841 0893.

A varying width of between 1 metre and 0.5 metre between point H at TQ 7841 0893 and point I at TQ 7841 0893, with a width of 0.5 metres at point I at TQ 7841 0893.
