What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTPATH FRONTING NOS. 222-242 ARCHER ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath fronting Nos. 222-242 Archer Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the north west boundary of No. 226 Archer Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 15m (“the Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footpath fronting Nos. 222-242 Archer Road, the footway situated on the south east side of Archer Road, the footpath fronting Nos. 172-190 Archer Road, the cycle track/footway situated on the north west side of A1155 Fairlands Way and the footpath fronting Nos. 222-242 Archer Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 5 February 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF PARK DRIVE, BALDOCK) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Park Drive, Baldock from its easternmost junction with Holroyd Crescent north eastwards for a distance of approximately 18m (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 3 February 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN CHARLTON ROAD, HITCHIN AND INNS CLOSE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:
That length of Charlton Road, Hitchin from its junction with A602 Parkway south westwards to its junction with Willow Lane, a distance of approximately 223m.
An alternative route will be via A602 Parkway, A505 (Upper Tilehouse Street/Offley Road/Moormead Hill) and Willow Lane.
That length of Inns Close, Stevenage from its junction with Letchmore Road northwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However, vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET/ASHWELL ROAD, HINXWORTH) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street/Ashwell Road, Hinxworth from a point 75m north west of its junction with Francis Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 615m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Ashwell Road, Hinxworth Road, Newnham Way, Ashwell Road, Newnham Road, A507 Great North Road, A1 (unnamed road), Edworth Road, Edworth (unnamed road), High Street and Ashwell Road
or via Ashwell Road, High Street, New Inn Road, A1 (unnamed road), A507 Great North Road, Newnham Road, Ashwell Road, Newnham Way, Hinxworth Road and Ashwell Road.
ADDITIONALLY, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 23 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN HITCHIN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:
To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following length of road, except for access, and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of road whilst works are in progress:
a) That length of Sun Street, Hitchin from its junction with a point in line with the southern boundary of No. 25 Sun Street north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Market Place, a distance of approximately 84m.
An alternative route will be via Market Place, High Street, Bancroft, Hermitage Road, B656 Queen Street, Bridge Street, and Sun Street.
To prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the following lengths of roads, whilst works are in progress:
a) That length of High Street, Hitchin from its junction with Bancroft south westwards to its junction with Market Place, a distance of approximately 130m.
b) That length of Market Place, Hitchin from its junction with High Street south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Sun Street, a distance of approximately 71m.
The existing one-way traffic system on High Street, Hitchin from its junction with Market Place north eastwards to its junction with Bancroft, a distance of approximately 150m, will be temporarily reversed whilst works are in progress.
The existing one-way traffic system on that length of Market Place, Hitchin from its junction with Sun Street north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of approximately 71m, will be temporarily reversed whilst works are in progress.
The existing prohibition of right turn from Sun Street into Bridge Street, Hitchin will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to make this manoeuvre whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because water service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 20 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN ELBOW LANE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Elbow Lane, Stevenage from its junction with Melne Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Oaks Cross, a distance of approximately 334 m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Melne Road and Oaks Cross.
ADDITIONALLY, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 20 January 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, STEVENAGE) (20 MPH ZONE) ORDER 2024
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce a new 20 mph zone on various roads in Stevenage as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Wednesday 26 February 2025.
