THE HAMPSHIRE (PICKFORD STREET AND ARTILLERY ROAD, ALDERSHOT)

(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council made the above-mentioned Order on Tuesday 7th January 2025, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’), Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Act and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to prohibit vehicles in Pickford Street and Artillery Road, Aldershot as specified in the schedules below:

Schedule I – Prohibition of Driving

Pickford Street between its junction with High Street and a point 21.2 metres south thereof.

Schedule II – Prohibition of Driving, Except for Access

(i) Pickford Street between a point 21.2 metres south of its junction with High Street and its junction with Sebastopol Road, an approximate distance of 52.0 metres.

(ii) Artillery Road between its junction with Pickford Street and its eastern point of termination (i.e. for its entire length), an approximate distance of 64 metres.

This order will also revoke the existing one-way traffic on Pickford Street between its junction with High Street and its junction with Sebastopol Road.

DATE OF OPERATION: The order will come into force on Saturday 18th January 2025.

FURTHER DETAILS: A copy of this notice, the order as made, a map showing the location and effects of the scheme, a statement of reasons and the order to be part-revoked may be viewed at https://www.hants.gov.uk/community/publicnotices/?typeid=5 or inspected during the usual office hours at the following places:

(i) Aldershot Library, 109 High Street, Aldershot, GU11 1DQ (Opening hours: Monday: 09.30 – 13.30; Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday: 09.30 – 17.00)

(ii) Rushmoor Borough council, Customer Services, Council Offices, Farnborough Road, GU14 7JU (Opening hours: Mondays to Fridays: 09:00 – 14:00)

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 – 5.15; Fridays 8.30 – 4.45)

(iv) Copies of the draft order plan and statement of reasons can also be obtained by e-mailing public.notices@hants.gov.uk or by writing to Traffic Orders Team, Safer Roads and Parking, Universal Services, The Castle, Winchester SO23 8UD quoting reference: A2033/MEB.

APPLICATION TO THE HIGH COURT: Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Act, or that any of the relevant requirements have not been complied with, may make an application for the purpose to the High Court by Tuesday 18th February 2025.
