What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(MITTON ROAD, WHALLEY AND GREAT MITTON, RIBBLE VALLEY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Mitton Road, Whalley and Great Mitton from its junction with Whalley Road, Hurst Green to a point outside 32 Mitton Road Whalley.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative daily from 0900 hours until 1500 hours on 21st January 2025 until 27th January 2025 or until completion of the works within this period. Access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.

6. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Mitton Road – Whalley Road – Clitheroe Road – New Lane – Pig Hill – Edisford Road – Parson Lane – Moor Lane – Whalley Road – Whalley Clitheroe Bypass – Whalley Easterly Bypass – Accrington Road – King Street – Station Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Lancashire County Council to carry out surface dressing patching works to be carried out.
