THE BOROUGH OF LUTON (VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.4) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 3rd February 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Brantwood Road the whole length. Diversion route via Dallow Road, Telford Way Roundabout, Dunstable Road, Cardiff Road, Ashburnham Road. Alternatively via Ashburnham Road, Lyndhurst Road, Dallow Road. Or via Dallow Road, Belmont Road, Ashburnham Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 3rd February 2025 to 5th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Lyndhurst Road the whole length. Diversion route via Ashburnham Road, Dale Road, Dallow Road. Alternatively via Ashburnham Road, Brantwood Road, Dallow Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 6th February 2025 to 7th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.
St Peters Road the whole length. Diversion route via Dallow Road, Naseby Road, Ashburnham Road. Alternatively via Dallow Road, Naseby Road, Ashburnham Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 10th February 2025 to 12th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Belmont Road the whole length. Diversion route via Dallow Road, Brantwood Road, Ashburnham Road. Alternatively via Dallow Road, Newcombe Road, Ashburnham Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 13th February 2025 to 14th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Ferndale Road the whole length. Diversion route via Ashburnham Road, Butlin Road, Dallow Road. Beaumont Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Ascot Road, Denbigh Road. Alternatively via Biscot Road, Cavendish Road, Denbigh Road. Or via Denbigh Road, Holland Road, Biscot Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 24th February 2025 to 26th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Cavendish Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Norman Road, Leagrave Road. Alternatively via Biscot Road, Montrose Avenue, Woodland Avenue, Leagrave Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 24th February 2025 to 26th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Malvern Road the whole length. Diversion route via Ashburnham Road, Butlin Road, Dallow Road. Alternatively via Ashburnham Road, Dale Road, Dallow Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 27th February 2025 to 28th February 2025, 8am to 6pm.

Bishopscote Road from its junction with Austin Road to its junction with Bristol Road. Diversion route via Trinity Road, Blundell Road, Bristol Road. Alternatively via St Margaret’s Avenue, Montrose Avenue, Culverhouse Road, Austin Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 3rd March 2025 to 5th March 2025, 9:30am to 3pm.
Naseby Road the whole length. Diversion route via Dallow Road, Newcombe Road, Ashburnham Road. Alternatively via Dallow Road, St Peters Road, Ashburnham Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 6th March 2025 to 7th March 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Bishopscote Road from its junction with Bristol Road to its junction with Woodland Avenue. Diversion route via Bristol Road, Blundell Road, Leagrave Road, Woodland Avenue. Alternatively via St Margaret’s Avenue, Montrose Avenue. Anticipated dates and times of closures 10th March 2025 to 12th March 2025, 9:30am to 3pm.
Butlin Road the whole length. Diversion route via Ashburnham Road, Malvern Road, Dallow Road. Alternatively via Ashburnham Road, Ferndale Road, Dallow Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 13th March 2025 to 14th March 2025, 8am to 6pm.
Denbigh Road from its junction with Woodland Avenue to its junction with Tudor Road. Diversion route via Kennington Road, Biscot Road, Montrose Avenue. Alternatively via Woodland Avenue, Leagrave Road, Tudor Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 17th March 2025 to 19th March 2025, 9:30am to 3pm.
Clifton Road the whole length. Diversion route via Oak Road, Dunstable Road, Birch Link, Dunstable Road, Telford Way Roundabout, Dunstable Road, Stuart Street, Chapel Viaduct, Castle Street Roundabout, Chapel Viaduct, Stuart Street, Dunstable Road, Dallow Road. Alternatively via Shirley Road, Dallow Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 20th March 2025 to 21st March 2025, 8am to 6pm. In conjunction with this road closure the Council intends to suspend the one-way restriction on Wimborne Road the length from its junction with Clifton Road to its junction with Shirley Road.

Althorp Road the whole length. Diversion route via Biscot Road, Chaucer Road, Argyll Avenue, Blenheim Crescent, Saxon Road, Leagrave Road. Alternatively via Biscot Road, Saxon Road, Leagrave Road. Anticipated dates and times of closures 14th May 2025 to 15th May 2025, 8am to 6pm.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable carriageway and footway deep cleaning and maintenance works to be carried out. For the period of the closure, the Order will also provide for “No Waiting and No Loading” restrictions to apply within the roads and lengths of roads closed for said works. Any vehicle deemed to be in contravention of the restrictions will be issued with a penalty charge notice and removed. This will be in force when traffic signs, barriers or cones are displayed. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
