What is happening?

South Gloucestershire Council

(Ragged Castle Road, Hawkesbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Ragged Castle Road which extends from A433 Tetbury Road south eastwards for 750m.

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. 

The order became operative from 17 January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 1 day duration. 

Alternative route: A433 Tetbury Road, crossroads south of Sopworth north to County Boundary, County Boundary near Little Badminton east from A433 to Sopworth crossroads and vice versa.


(Nupdown Lane, Oldbury on Severn) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Nupdown Lane which extends from a point 600m north west of Hill Lane north westwards for 25m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with boundary box installation works. 

The order became operative from 14 January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: Hill Lane, Shepperdine Road, Nupdown Lane and vice versa.


(Old Gloucester Road, Winterbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Old Gloucester Road which extends from Trench Lane northwards for 170m and southwards for 970m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole testing works. 

The order became operative from 14 January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: B4427, B4059, B4058, B4057 and vice versa.


(Gaunt’s Earthcott Lane, Almondsbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Gaunt’s Earthcott Lane which extends from a point 500m north west of Old Gloucester Road north westwards for 250m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with bridge stone parapet repair works. 

The order became operative from 13 January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. 

Alternative route: Gaunt’s Earthcott Lane, Hortham Lane, A38 Gloucester Road, Old Church Road, Church Road, B4427 Old Gloucester Road, Gaunt’s Earthcott Lane and vice versa.


(Mangotsfield Road, Mangotsfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Mangotsfield Road which extends from Charnhill Drive north eastwards for 350m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon drainage installation works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 13 January 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. 

Alternative route: Saint James Street, Northcote Road, Peache Road, Westerleigh Road, A4017, A4175, B4465 (part unaffected) and vice versa.
