What is happening?

(KIRKGATE, COCKERMOUTH)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable repair works to be carried out to a building adjacent to the road ("the Works"), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of Kirkgate, Cockermouth, from its junction with Market Place, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 40m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and suitable alternative routes for vehicles will be signed and available:

North Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Kirkgate, Victoria Road, B5292, Gallowbarrow, Sullart Street, Main Street and Market Place; and

South Bound Vehicles: via Market Place, Main Street, Station Street, B5292, Victoria Road and the unrestricted section of Kirkgate.

The Order will come into operation on 13 January 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 3 weeks and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
