What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(ELM PARK ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close Elm Park Road. If made, the Order will come into force from 22:00 hours 20 January 2025 -05:30 hours 21 January 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the closure will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow non-excavation sewer cleaning works. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(THE WARREN) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intends to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which is to temporarily suspend all parking restrictions and temporarily introduce no waiting no loading or unloading parking restriction on The Warren, from its junction with St Peter's Avenue to a point 95 metres southwest of that junction. If made, the Order will come into force from 22 January to 23 May 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due an unstable wall.

(SOUTHAMPTON STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking and impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction from outside numbers 114 to 102 Southampton Street. The Order will come into force from 13-26 January 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate the installation of foul and surface water drainage.

(KENNET STREET AND QUEENS ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2024

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:

  • Close the entire length of Kennet Street and suspend the one-way restriction on 16 January 2025 only; and
  • Suspend the parking and impose a no stopping or waiting or loading at any time restriction along Queens Road from opposite its junction with Watlington Street to its junction with St Johns Street on 17 January 2025 only.

The Order will come into force on the dates listed above. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary facilitate the placement of a crane on the public highway. A signed diversion will be in place throughout.

(ELM PARK ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend parking and impose a no waiting and/or loading at any time restriction along Elm Park Road from numbers 23 to 29 and numbers 26 to 38. The Order will come into force from 13 January - 10 February 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate repair works to a collapsed sewer.

(CASTLE STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the:

  • Disabled parking bays along Castle Street, outside Reading Magistrates Court; and
  • Impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction outside numbers 43 to 37 Castle Street.

The Order will come into force from 13-16 January 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to allow cross-connection installation works.

(NEW ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays, double yellow lines and impose a no stopping or waiting or loading at any time restriction other than by Thames Water Utility or contractor vehicles within the parking bays, outside and opposite 18-36 New Road. The Order will come into force from 20-23 January 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restrictions will remain in force until the works are completed with a maximum order duration of 18 months. The Order is necessary to facilitate excavation and connection works relating to new water connections and disconnections.
